2017 Honda Civic Type R

Still looks as though it's trying too hard to me. What ever happened to the simple yet functional looking TYPE R cars?

The current Type R cars look terrible.

As you say, looks like Honda had a good look at the Mazda3 (which I think looks fabulous), then decided to create some vaguely similar, but more aggressive. Unfortunately the result is just a visual mess and is nearly as pig ugly as the existing Civic.

It looks like a shoe. Front 3/4 view is all off to my eyes. Definitely a hint of the Impreza in it, but that wouldn't make we want one. I think this and the last Civic Type R have been terrible looking!

Looks like an utter mess. There is no hint of Type-R roots in these new models, shame. They've just slapped all manner of angles, pipes and vents into wherever and said "it looks like a Transformer now, this is what the kids like these days".

Although the new Civic Type R has so far only been shown in concept form, we can expect it to receive two large rear spoilers, a front splitter, more aerodynamic bodywork and larger air vents in its front bumper.

So pointless speculation really, since actual images haven't yet surfaced.

Why?

Anyway, the last Civic Type R (FK2) - wasn't a fan really until I saw it in person and completely changed my mind, my only gripe is that it's perhaps a bit too big. Can't say I'm a fan of this new CONCEPT though, but we'll see.

Just don't think it will be able to go flat out without wheel spin galore.
