It pays to complain !

The PA company Mackie gave me a great service.
I'd paid nearly £1000 for two powered speakers and they gave me loads of trouble but Mackie kept repairing them free of charge.
When one decided to go wrong again I suggested that I'd pay the £600 extra for the better upgraded speakers and they decided just to do a straight swop.

I used to work in the cares department at Sky, as long as the customer who was complaining was legit and nice I'd pretty much give them anything. Gave a guy a years free sky once, because the technician was a bit of a dick to him.

The awful ones, well they just entertained me for a day.

I'm currently in the process of complaining to BA, but I don't think it will go as smoothly as the posts above.

Flight cancelled at T5 at 1am in the morning. 26 hours delayed. Zero hotels, food, drink, phone calls, amenities offered to us. In fact they ransomed us our bags, only letting us have them back if we agreed to leave the departure gate (so they wouldn't have to deal with us). We slept on the floor of the airport. There was a **** nugget in the nearby water fountain. There were mice running about. I got an electric shock from a wall socket.

Pretty rubbish journey really!

I did once order a meal with my family at a fancy beach restaurant in the Caribbean. We waited nearly an hour for food. Everyone's meals then arrived except mine (pan seared butterflied chicken breast with king prawns I believe). Waitress had forgotten to even write my order down. The entire meal was free, plus all drinks covered. Was worth it, but my gosh I was hungry!

Yesterday 5 of us went to see "Trolls" (don't go and see it, it's terrible) [..]
We stayed and watched the film anyway, I was very glad not to have paid to watch it as it was tripe, 3 year old loved it ;)

Sounds like it's a good film for its intended audience.

I had a Dell XPS, it was 5 years old and started to continually go wrong.

I must have had Dell out 2-4 times a year repairing parts etc before the 5th year, and as i was nearing the end of my extended warranty i emailed them saying how unacceptable it was, as i don't expect a £1000+ laptop to have so many faults.

They sent me a brand new Dell XPS 15z......... Suffice to say, that cheered me up!!

Its now dead however, and my Mac has replaced it :D

I called Dyno Plumbing out to fix a toilet that was leaking from inlet pipe and flush pipe. They gave me a reasonable time slot on the day I wanted and the plumber turned up within it and gave me a call ~10 minutes before arriving to say they were on their way. It all seemed OK when they left, having done some flushes to test.

It was still leaking from the seal between the cistern and the flush pipe. Only a slow drip, but still a leak. So I rang Dyno back and complained in a reasonable manner. They arranged another visit and the plumber replaced the flush pipe and the seals at both ends without charging me for the replacement parts.

Logitech are epic. I've phoned them about an 18 month old mouse that has broken and they have straight away sent me a brand new newer and slightly more expensive model.

My last experience with Logitech wasn't so good. I had a mouse with a broken middle click. They made me send it in before they'd replace it.

Not the end of the world, but a far cry from the no hassle replacements that a lot of people talk about. Obviously meanwhile I didn't have a proper mouse.

My next experience was trying to buy a keyboard from them, something went wrong with my order and it was stuck on pending payment.

I tried to call them to pay for it, but they were completely uncontactable. They had a phone number with a menu system that apparently did nothing.

I tried to email them but they seemed to completely miss the point, so in the end I just picked up a Corsair keyboard instead.

On holiday in Sharm I got a call from a lady whos job it was to ensure guests were satisfied with their stay.. Ooh er ;-)

She asked if we enjoyed the restaurants so I told her we hadn't tried them due to a horrible tasting pizza from room service on the first night
I then got a call from the executive chef and he offered me his apologies, asked my opinion on how room service could be improved then offered us a free meal with drinks at any restaurant of our choosing, waived some of our hotel bill and gave us a complimentary late check out

Best Pizza I never had!

I see too many people put up with crap over the years. Amazon are usually pretty decent, I recently bought some Grado RS1is from Amazon Warehouse, instead the newer ( and apparently worse sounding ) RS2es turned up. I emailed them expecting them to say send them back, and they offered me 45% off an already amazing price, ended up with some £1000 headphones for miles less in the end.

Restaurants always make screwups, and the usual british attitude is to smile and nod and say its lovely. I usually end up sending badly cooked things back so I can hopefully get what I ordered, just try and be nice about it and hope they don't spit in your food.

Yeah credit due Amazon are normally very good. I don't like to hassle them too much though. Also I must give some credit out to Breville who were also good to me in the past.

It's the mark of a good company when they actually listen and help!

Lastly, I must also say that the OCUK support I have received is also good, 5UB in particular has helped me out on a couple of occasions!

Once I accidentally damaged a motherboard when trying to return it, it was a stupid mistake, but it occurred after I had initiated a return with OCUK. I owned up to my error, but OCUK accepted the return anyway - that to me was amazing!

Yeah, agree with Logitech having great customer services.

I bought a G940 HOTAS controller and after a few days it had issues with a throttle spiking. A quick google showed the very easy fix was to open the throttle base and loosen a screw so a wire had a bit more play. The problem was it would void the warranty. So I contacted Logitech who sent me a complete replacement G940 but did not want the old one back.

So I did the quick fix on the original G940 and sold it on ebay.

ordered a computer for my daughters birthday, paid for expedited delivery a week before, turned up the day after her birthday. The wife phoned amazon and complained and we got a full refunded.

Wait.... wut?! You complained to Walkers about a single packet of crisps that had deflated and they actually sent someone around???! I'm not sure where to even begin on that one!

Aye, I did indeed, read the blurb on the packet about phoning if you had an issue and the Rep appeared, said he was in the area on a call, dunno, don't care, epic CS and I still buy their crisps!

Do you have to return the offending part? I am sure I read a story on here a while ago about one of our members abusing Logitech's good faith with their customer service until eventually they caught on and billed him.

Afaik he binned the old broken part but was open and honest with them about dropping it.

Not surprised a minority of people take advantage and ruin it for the rest of us though.

I have friends that complain about everything, even if they have a nice time they'll find something to complain about so they can get something free.

I hate this, they are just exploiting the company's good nature.

Cineworld have always been brilliant when I've mentioned things.

Went to see Suicide Squad in IMAX but the projector broke so they gave us 2 free tickets and allowed us to see the 3D viewing for free :D

That's a snidey and crappy thing to do. Perfect example of the "I'm entitled to" generation. Glad they got karma back.

Anker - great customer service. They actually contacted me to ask if everything was OK with the battery pack, I let them know about an issue with charging (charge the battery full, unplug from charger, and then immediately replug into charger, and it would keep charging again for a good 15 minutes) and they're sending out a new one, and I don't need to send the iffy one back.

Great service.

Same with me, I got a USB 3.0 card to use a Kinect on my old system, turns out only a few cards support the Kinect. Anker contacted me to ask for feedback, I mentioned the issue I had though wasn't complaining or expecting anything, they offered a refund, I told them thanks but I couldn't be bothered to send it back, they let me keep it and issued a refund.

I'm always too polite/british to complain but next time I think I'll give it a try considering the successful customer service stories in here!
