Hey guys, Im looking for a little advice. I was just playing Battlefield 1 when my computer powered off suddenly and they i see sparks coming from the GPU.

I have tested everything and its all working but I'm afraid it may go.

I couldn't see any damage on the card and there was no electrical smell.

I have contacted there customer service just waiting for a reply. Has anyone else heard of similar issues?

Much appreciated,

Raz-

If sparks came from your GPU it needs to be returned, regardless of it still doing it or not. I think you already know this though ;)

Correct. Some compnent has went pop. It might be a component that doesn't prevent operation of the card at present, but as a result could be putting further strain on its neighbouring components. At the very least, I would be concerned about it being a potential fire hazard.

Hey guys, thanks for the help. I have spoke to EVGA Customer Support and they have told me to send them some pictures of the PCB. I have purchased a new 850w Superflower PSU so that should rule out any issue from the Power supply. Its was so strange though as i had no issues up until this point and ive had it at least 2 months.

My EVGA 1080 FTW died a few weeks back as well. I'm on my second, Hope this one lasts? I wonder how many EVGA 1080 FTW cards were faulty?

My GTX 1070 FTW original one had a electrical smell and it was dead, I was downstairs waiting for the drivers to finish downloading and came back to see it dead. I returned it and RMA'ed my PSU and it's been fine since.

Yeah OP doesn't want his PC going up.

what was your PSU before the Superflower?

Antec TruePower 650w Semi Modular, I was literally thinking about upgrading the other day but everything was running fine for 2-3 months. I mean it was roughly 6 years old.

I have found the culprit. It was a small transistor which has blown. Wondering of its covered by the warranty.

It depends which transistor, if you read the extra extra extra fine print you can find out that only 50% of the transistors are covered by the warranty , if your lucky you much find its in the 50% that is covered.

If they say that transistor isn't covered rotate the picture 180 degrees and re-apply for an RMA.

:D

They have given me a RMA Number. Think i'm gonna go for the Advanced RMA they offer as I originally had a week booked off to play Battlefield 1 :(

This is a special themed feature on certain cards for Battlefield 1 to match the sparks you see in the game menus, only RMA if the sparks are not Battlefield orange in colour.
