Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a 4k display to pair with a 5k Retina iMac, the mac is 27" so I am looking between 27"-28" in size, IPS panel obviously for the best colours.
This will be for Photoshop and other adobe software so a good colour calibration and vibrant picture is essential. Something between £250-350.

I am looking at
Dell U2715H
or
LG 27UD58

But I am open to suggestions, also adjust the price if there is a good deal somewhere.

Thanks:cool:

The Dell U2715H is 1440p not 4k. But it's a beautiful monitor. I have one here and use it for design work. It came factory calibrated and the colours are very similar to my hardware calibrated Lacie that I now use as a second monitor.

The 4K Dell IPS monitors are significantly more expensive.

Oh yeah just noticed, I look at some reviews of the dell one and everyone says its mindblowing, its just if I am going to sit it next to the apple retina 5k I might need that 4k res just for the size....

The Dell U2715H is a lovely monitor but it might be a bit of a letdown next to a Retina 5k.

It all depends if you do any gaming at all. I would imagine gaming at 5k is a struggle, so a 1440p might make a better gaming monitor. But if it's exclusively for design work, you're probably better off with a 4k monitor. Something like the Dell P2715Q which gets good reviews, but it's about £500.

There will be no gaming this is strictly for designers, so a 4k IPS is the way to go in here, I will have a look at the dell there but £500 is a bit steep if i need to get 4 of those (only one per mac)

Ah, needing 4 of them moves the goalposts a bit :)

Well, there's cheaper 27" 4k IPS monitors out there. For example:

The advantage of Dell is that their factory calibration is usually good. You *might* need to hardware calibrate some other brands. However, the cost of a hardware calibration tool (if you don't already have one) spread across four monitors shouldn't be too bad and it's something that's always good to have around anyway.

Im not a big fan of Acer monitors, but it looks like if I want to get something for a reasonable price as 4k IPS dont really have choice either get the LG or the Acer one...
