No almost about it. An apology is absolutely an admission of guilt. You can't say "I'm sorry for doing it" without also saying "I did it".

SJWs are bullies with power. Standing up to them is therefore very risky. Submitting to their dominance is also very risky, but easier in the short term.

I hope that's the reason because the only other possible reason is deliberately chosen appeasement and that is guaranteed to have very bad results. Trying to appease power-hungry bullying bigots is a recipe for disaster.

Why do people / companies continue to pander and apologise to these muppets ridiculous opinions and complaints? It just fuels them to find even more things to have an opinion / complain about.

The only power they have is the power we give them. As with all bullies if you ignore them they melt away, they are attention seeking and without the attention they die off.
 
I see lots of blacks trying to emulate whites with skin bleaching, nose jobs, hair straightening etcetera, from top celebrities and pop stars to everyday girls and boys, and I have never seen any vitriol from white people about it, but the most tenuous, nee, preposterous link to an army recruit in camouflage to racism gets the Liberals all agitated. Are they up in arms about black women buying make up to make their skin look paler?

This subject of their ire is not doing this because they wish to look like a person of colour, unlike the converse of say Michael Jackson, and even if they were, why are people bothered?

The issue in the OP is a bit stupid, but you're not talking about that.

What you seem to be saying is that black people emulating whites (is it really that widespread?!) is ok, therefore whites doing blackface is ok.

And you seem to think those two perspectives are equivalent.

Going blackface is about making a joke mocking black skin. It has its roots in a much more outwardly racist time where white people would black up to denigrate blacks. It's an understandably sensitive thing, even in the rare cases where it's not got a racist undertone (such as the story about a young Aussie lad blacking up as part of a costume to look like his favourite player, an Aboriginal chap).

Whereas "blacks trying to emulate whites" is, if is even exists, flattery by imitation. (and, in fact, is disliked by 'Liberals' because of its seeming position of White-is-Best - people of colour shouldn't feel like they have to be more white)

It's just a small, but vocal, minority of people who are at the extreme end of views and need to be slapped back into place (metaphorically) by the rest of the rational thinking people in society

The problem is it's all being facilitated by social media, giving them a platform for their stupidity and also by the actual media who then whip up the drama around the story.

But it'll happen, like all things the pendulum always swings too far one way before something gets done about it.

I have decided we need to create a 'safe space' on a planet where the oxygen level is 0% for anyone that feels offended or outraged by such things. Here they can all recover from the extreme trauma they have experienced.
