Government to limit certain tv viewing

If it were true, how would they enforce something like this on websites that aren't hosted in the UK?

They can't. Ideas like this just push people towards VPNs which doesn't help the authorities in the long run.
 
Not going to happen. Besides just as before with "blocking" a VPN and suddenly the blocks no longer exist :eek:.

I however love wasting money in this fashion, never gets boring.

I would be intrigued to know whether operating means using British servers/company registration or just the ability to be viewed in Britain(I suspect the latter).

it's going to make all the porn sites operating in Britain collect some kind of age-verification in order to make this happen

They can as if they go the same path as China and other places.
 
China has been trying to tie people to their online activity for ages, and done really badly at it. Anything from handles on games to sim cards, the only way it's been semi-successful is pressuring platforms like Weibo, and even that can be circumvented. When somewhere that authoritarian can't manage it, I wouldn't be worried about the UK.
 
If true it's just more evidence that some people in power don't even understand the basic fundamentals of how the internet works.

ukispcourtorders can be bypassed with 1-click in about 1 second in opera, about as effective as a chocolate teapot :p
 
Cos the OP who is a large proponent of drug use is obviously encountering one of those side effects that doesn't exist...
 
Was a thread about this ages ago... but it was titled correctly.

Pretty much came to the conclusion that it wont affect anyone since... lol British porn sites. Please

It might end up like the ISP/mobile porn/betting sites thing when it was going to be verify to have access but ended up being an opt out thing, so worried mums-netter types are appeased while everyone else who knows 'how to computer' carries on as normal.
 
surely this will affect like 0.01% of porn sites I mean who hosts porn sites in the UK anyway? Presumably some British production companies and maybe the home pages of some British porn stars. Aren't most of the tube sites or whatever hosted overseas along with most of the content providers. I'm pretty sure places like the US, Russia, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands etc.. produce far more.

If I understand correctly, some sites are already conforming by having UK users redirect to a different landing page, so I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to add porn ID credentials as well.

Just struck my how ludicrous it is to legally allow sex at 16 but not be able to view it until 18.

And the rest of this proposal, they never learn...
 
pointless waste of time, most porn sites don't operate in Britain as their servers are in some remote location outside of the legal talons of Nazi's like May. Unless of course you are just a purveyor of Benjamin Dover productions, to which I will say you need to stretch your wings a bit.............
