Took the Citroen in for a service at a main dealer, they just sent me a video of the tech working on the car, checking tyre depths with all the wheels off, brake discs (under limit, need new ones...) etc
I was quite impressed, never had that before!

It's not quite new, but certainly becoming more common practice. A family member working in a Jaguar dealership absolutely hates doing them as they're absolute faff, and obviously require a complete professional manner. Even though he gets paid a small amount of commission for each video recording.

Had a video emailed to me from Ford when they were looking at and changing a tyre on my old Focus, I bet they hate doing them, it was quite cool to see but fairly cringey too haha.

The best service that I've had, or perceived to have had was from an independent dealership in Sussex who let me stay and poke around everything while they completed it. They inspected absolutely everything and completed all the service items. It's a double edged sword as the main Honda dealer in Solihull will collect my car, perform the service, clean it and deliver it back to me while I'm at work which is also an excellent service, however I am always suspicious as to exactly what has been done and what can be left alone.

Seat did something of the sorts, although I just saw the final video where the guy gives it a thumbs up at the end (or thumbs down if it's bad news maybe?).

I just had my car serviced by Vauxhall. Am I asking to much to expect the car to be washed and cleaned like VW/Seat/Ford have done for me previously as part of a routine service? Also, bearing in mind I'm on the road all the working days of the week, they've told me my brake pads need changing very soon. Just change them now for heavens sake!

The Citroen place charges £3.99 for a basic wash, and £7.99 for a 'valet' (they wipe the dash and put some tyre shine on!) I always decline.

I prefer the dealer doesn't wash my car for me, but I would be incredibly unhappy if they suggested a charge for someone to run a hose over my car once they were done

I assumed all dealers washed cars now, my missus' focus came back pretty sparkly from ford after a service, Seat list it as something they do (I own a Seat) my mums Toyota always gets a wash and hoover too.

They even half attempted to dust the interior at Ford, I say half attempted as there was still plenty of dust on the dash! :p

Just picked it up, they 'washed' it for free. Water marks all over it, it looked cleaner when I dropped it off :(

I know of two people who had there cars damaged recently by dealers washing their cars following a service.

I always always always ask them to leave it alone. And every time I get an apology off the service desk guy saying the techs took it to the wash anyway.
