A. Things which will not concern you
or
B. Things which any ISP would charge you - tell me one ISP that won't charge you to look at internal wiring etc.

I will be with Vodafone on the 1st November. And or the "really scary price list" I've paid £49 for connection and that is all.

At the moment, and for the past two years at least Sky don't pass on any Openreach charges to the customer.
 
I wouldn't mind going to Sky, but the thing is, they don't allow 2 Internet connections from them. I can go any other isp to get Internet in the room upstairs, but since we have sky downstairs, I can't get it upstairs. They're missing out on money. Quite silly really.
 
Basically a few years ago we moved house, as I was in a contract with BT, I got a new line fitted upstairs in my room. My dad was with Sky, so he got everything set up downstairs. We had 2 internet connections in the house. I cancelled my bt, he cancelled his sky after 6 months or so, and we just used virgin, as it was fast. Now he's gone back to sky, but it's only 37mb line, and its pretty slow at times for me, so I'm thinking about getting my line reactivated upstairs again, but Sky won't allow 2 internet connections in 1 house, but I can go with anyone else, but have to be very careful they don't do a line takeover.
 
Eh, it's my dad's subscription, not going to ask for him to upgrade it to benefit me. He's already in some sort of package deal with TV and phone.

Regardless, I'd still want a connection upstairs and to be wired. Not viable to run an ethernet cable from my pc to the router downstairs.

So if I phone up Sky and the issue is obviously internal wiring, they will send an engineer out totally FOC?
Then that is where I'll be moving my mum to in 2 months time - that will save a lot of messing about.

No. That's not what I meant. If you do all the troubleshooting and sky then decide to send an engineer and the fault is found to be an internal one, Sky won't bill you. If the T/S identifies, say, a faulty extension then you're on your own and no engineer will be booked.
