Long story short we are having our semi detached re-rendered as the render has blown. Whilst I've read horror stories about cement render it is unfortunately what we are going with for a number of reasons.

My question is, what the best paint for it? The chap doing the render suggested a pliolite based paint but my concern is water getting behind it over time and getting trapped?

Any idea's?

What ever you go with the key is maintenance if you don't want water to get behind it you need to regularly repaint it.

Fair point and we would keep on top of that. But I want to start as I mean to go on and put a good quality paint on it. Pliolite has been suggested and we will likely go for it unless theres a better suggestion?

Pliolite paint is solvent based, trades normally go for it because it's shower proof within 20 minutes. I'm personally not a fan because you have to dilute them with spirits instead of water.

I recently rendered my house and went with Dulux Weathershield Trade paint (water based). We used sheep skin rollers in a medium/long pile and watered down the first 2 coats 5:1 and the last coat 10:1 - the coverage and overall finish was perfect.

Sandex Trade is very good too but I prefered the Dulux colour range.
