*** The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Thread ***

Samsung replied to my Resolver saying that they will not reimburse anything not purchased from them and that I can keep the Gear VR as a gesture of good will.

Obviously I was going to keep that anyway :p

In their reply they also said I need to turn the phone boxed etc in order to get a refund... fat chance that is happening. Let's see what Amex have to say ;)

pop a little smelly surprise in there for them too

I have talked to our supervisors and they have advised that our support will not be able to assist in this case, as the products have been bought from another retailer.

However, they have advised me that you can contact our colleagues that manage in general the Note 7 callback and situation. It is possible that they might be able to find a suitable solution for this situation. Their phone number is 0330 726 1000.

Currently, our focus is to recall all Samsung Note 7 products and the situation with the compensation is being looked into globally, but for the time being we are not in a position to offer one. Once Samsung Electronics has an official statement about this, the customers will be informed.

Would if not be fair to say that current notes from the first run would be as safe as any phone after a month and a half of perfect operation?
 
I don't know why anyone would risk it tbh.

I still see them being listed on eBay daily though they keep getting removed as per their T&C's. They all keep getting bid on too! Its madness to buy one off the bay.
 
If Samsung wasted admin time dealing with people complaining about the fact their £5 ebay screen protector is now worthless, it would slow the whole thing down completely and would impact the turnaround time for people getting refunds or replacement handsets.

Is anyone really going to waste money filing a small claims case for a screen protector and case?

It would be excessive for an ebay £5 screen protector.

However, the s-view cases were about £40-£50, and some of the glass screen protectors about £30-£40, so that's £70-£90 out of pocket if you went for both.

Others might have gone for other accessories such as the Note 7 camera lens case (which was about £100). Some might have gone for accessories which might not be Note 7 specific but still useless if they go for a non-Samsung replacement (e.g. wireless chargers which are about £40-£50 and aren't much use if the replacement phone doesn't support wireless charging)

So the refresh deal just means you can pay off the phone and cancel the contract. Seeing as you can't get the phone on PAYG thats the only way to get it without being stuck with O2

Quite common ...seen few threads on hukd about o2 and cancelling contract and paying phone off

Completed paying it off today and cancelled the contract with no penalty :)
 
So in one of Samsung's emails they had mentioned that they would collect the phone today. I called up and they said that they would call/text beforehand... I got a call from UK Mail just after 18:00 saying he was at my office. Obviously I wasn't there so I told him to make a note that the booking was not correct and that I would wait for Samsung to get in touch.

On the back of that, I have started a charge back with Amex. I'm fed up jumping through hoops and being inconvenienced due to someone else's **** up. If they had actually tried to make it right I would be a little more lenient but now Samsung can argue with Amex and if they want to collect it, they have to do so at my convenience... and by that I mean a time where it is going to be very difficult, such as a Sunday evening.
