basicly wanna max out in-game settings on everything for a whilte at 720p 60hz (my bedroom tv) gotta fit into an mini-itx build, obviously heat is a problem (small case) and psu so cooler and less powerdraw is more important than price(value)

Seen 1060 in "compact" on ocuk that would be ideal, but will it hit 60fps in all the aaa games? vsync on? (bf1 battlefront doom etc)

I don't think it will hit 60FPS in all games and maxed out. It will for sure work on very high settings, but stuff like Anti Aliasing or other special stuff (nvidia hairworks) might need to be disabled/lowered down.

i5 more than enough for most games. I used to play on G3258 (Intel Pentium K), then got i5 4670T (low clocked i5 4670).

An i5 6500 and a 1060 will more than enough at 720p

The i5 6500 and 1060 is more than enough at 720p 60hz it will last you a good while it may actually be overkill to be honest, just make sure you don't get the 3gb card, 3gb is pointless nowadays

I think people are overestimating how much grunt 720p at 60hz needs.

Until a couple weeks ago, my brother didn't have a GPU. 720p60 was in his dreams back then, and he has an i5 (Haswell). Considering that, I'd say an RX470 to play it safe, if it were cheaper. Or as the above post suggests, a 1050 if it's priced right and performs at least as good as a 960. You could probably make do with older cheaper cards like a 750ti or a RX 460... but it's up tO OP how much they want to spend. What's the budget?

A GTX 1050 will easily do that.

I think they are underestimating.

Resolution/Frame rate stopped scaling in a linear fashion a good 10 years ago generally speaking and that has only become more true in recent years.

There are overheads that aren't related to resolution that are more apparent than you might think.
