I've grown a beard and now I'm treated differently

my gf always tells me to shave because my manly strong hairs "pix" her I suspect she means they are *****ly and annoying when kissing.

all these bearded people must be single

You lucky *******s, I cannot grow a beard for the life of me.

Am more of a natural twink, I have hair on legs, head and the nethers regions but am virtually bald on face, arms, chest and back.

I can grow a teen moustache but that's about it. :p

Beards are primarily to cover weak or double chins and distract from baldness aren't they?

Balding here, it's a joke - heeeyyyyy you can grow a beard in 2 weeks but the source of that energy is coming from your head! Why life, why.

You're mistaken. They once were used by real men for that reason. Now they're just part of the fearful image conscious women of "do I don't I, what do other people think of me, I'm concerned about my body image" metro-phagtual women that modern society has now bred.

Your appearance defines how you are treated by others. Most people I see with beards are growing them to alter how they are viewed by others. Normally to be more manly in their appearance, fair play to them, at my age I would be looking like santa with a full beard.:)

I stopped shaving in the mid-90s (whilst at uni) because I'd get terrible shaving rash. It also seemed to aggravate spots. At first it was patchy and nothing more than stubble. There was also an element of laziness.

I kept the stubble as I started to like it and it made me look slightly older (I've always looked young.) I left it longer and longer in between trims, until it became more beard than stubble.

The beard has remained: Now I'm approaching my mid-40s, have a wife, three kids and it's part of who I am, if you know what I mean? I do nothing more than trim it with clippers every few weeks, or so. I don't do anything else to it - no conditioners, no shaping, etc. That's just too much! (I'm lazy remember.)

There's slightly more grey now, though and I've been tempted once or twice to shave it off to shed a few years and scare the kids! ;)

Oh, no one has ever approached me simply because of my beard - that's, weird.
