Black Friday 1070/1080's

up to you.

there is no guarantee they will be discounted and even if they are it may not be much. OC do have some promotions very now and then, it's probably best to buy one when it happens, you might get more out of it.

Either that or just buy whatever you want without relying on any promotion / deal :)

I'd probably buy it now, I can't imagine there being any particularly amazing deals given the low margins and state of the £ right now. It's just as possible that prices will increase between now and then anyway; my 1060 is at least £18 more than when I bought it last month.

Depends where your planning on buying from,
ive been waiting 6 weeks for funds to get a G1 gaming 1070 and in that time its gone up over £30 at ocuk while its still £419 else where ...
And the 1070 Armor OC can be had £56 pound cheaper..
I usually try to justify the normaly small price difference by the excellent customer service
but this seems like a crazy price hike to me unless they are planning a big drop for black friday.

Exchange rate woes mean its unlikely they are selling strongly now as people are worried about when the prices rise further! Look what Apple just did in the UK....................

You'll see no significant change in the dollar to pound for atleast 6 months, and that's assuming it goes in your favour.

Any saving offered on Black Friday, will be based on old stock or retailers prepared to take a drop on profits ( i.e. a genuine deal not something based on self-inflated prices).

The later will usually be a limited number offer taken by in-store staff to justify the promotion.

I'll only bite if a GTX1080 goes sub £500

I had a premonition

... it could have been wind though:eek::o:p

I'm glad I picked up the Gigabyte Founders Edition 1070 (inc PSU/ GEARS) on last weeks offers. Needed a new PSU wanted Gears so with that factored in it was an epic deal... I had resisted but Gibbo left me no choice!!!:D

I'm thrilled with it:)

Buy a 1070/1080 now or wait for Black Friday?

If there still shifting in good numbers I doubt OCUK would deliberately cut their own margins just because 'black Friday'. Most likely the prices will creep up a few weeks before hand and on black Friday there will be a token discount on some models.

The 'big discounts' on black Friday are often found on crappy brand TV's that you don't need and manufacturers don't want. You will find OCUK will do the same on stock they have laying around in the warehouse (maybe some old Korean IPS monitors).
