Hi all,

Trying to decide on a good reliable application to help me manage my bank accounts. I bank with Barclays, so would like to be able to export my statements, load into a phone app and be able to start seeing how much I've spent on common companies, power, gas, costa etc.

Looking at a few, money manager ex, Gnucash, all seem so complicated and not clear how to import from my bank.

What do you guys use ?

My wage goes in the bank and aside from a small amount, most goes out in bills. Yeah that about covers it.

Not certain about Barclays but Santander allows you to download your statements and open them in excel. That would be enough to go through them and see where your money has gone, amend, highlight or print out for reference.

Mmm could see any mention of an app.

I used to also download statements, cover into Excel and management my accounts that way. However, haven't done this for 6 months, so a little behind so reckon there must be an app that can help me.

I use MoneyDance - very simple to use and will automatically categorise most things on'ce you've told them what they are. I just export my statements from my bank account in quicken format and open it with it and it does the rest. It looks like there's apps too.

MoneyDashboard looks and sounds the best as it can automatically integrate with your bank account without you needing to export anything manually - you effective give it your login details. I decided not to use it tough as the NatWest terms didn't like you doing it. Check with Barclays though as some are fine with it.

My dear lady takes care of such things, I just transfer whatever to the joint account as I'm told! She's the brain I'm the Brawn (and I'm not even very good at that) :p

I manage my money with my brain.

Same.

Almost everything is automated. And I mentally overestimate my spending

I know I get paid end of month.
Credit card bills etc all. Come out within a week. And the rest is spare.

Anything more is just extra hassle. My pay is static, bills are static apart from my Cc card so it's really the only one I check monthly.
