No Bigots Need Book An Airbnb Room

You call it "kindness" I call it social conditioning. I do not accept the idea that there are more than two sexes (or "genders" if you prefer) and will never use preferred pronouns. Trying to force me to do so under the pretext of "kindness" is a roundabout way of making me accept something that is not true.

It's possible to not believe in something and still be nice to those that do. I don't believe in god but I'll still wish people happy Easter/Hanukkah/Diwali/etc., etc., etc.

But nobody should be discriminated against - you can't pick and choose.

Uhh yes you can, as soon as no longer use their service it is no longer an issue of discrimination, but of trespass.

Honestly have no idea how this site has worked at all, seems like luck to me, all this will do is catch out the morons like the bakers who think they can challenge their situation knowing full well they put themselves right into it with their comments.

What sort of dealings? I've certainly spoken with them as they were using some of my local shops.

I was walking my dog and one asked for directions etc etc.

No bother. They even left the site pretty clean which was unexpected.

But then that's 'preconception' vs reality.

All races can be racist, all sexual orientations can be prejudice. I still don't think I'm bigot for expecting everyone else to treat others the same. Clearly that is asking too much.

Yet you specifically singled out white people and straight people.

That's being a racist bigot.

I knew an Indian landlord who refused to rent to Indians because he said they left the places looking like slums, does that make him racist or self loathing?

Easter is national holiday and part of our culture, at this point it's pretty much a secular holiday anyway. The idea of there being dozens of "gender identities" is not part of our culture, but it'll creep in if we don't resist it. And I do think it's worth resisting, because it's nonsense.

I wouldn't say either. I know there is a term for it but I always thought self loathing only applied to when you dislike yourself.

Isn't self-loathing a British value anyway?:p

Is the majority of racism not against non white people in the UK then? Straight people? I don't think there is as much discrimination against straight people than there is to gay people, regarding sexual orientation.

So it's about racists and homophobes who don't want non white people and gays?

The obvious arguments about race/sexuality aside, would you be happy to rent your nice tidy family oriented holiday home out to a group of 18 year olds?

I'm not suggesting that all groups of 18 year olds are lairy party animals who are going to trash the place, or that all 30 something couples with a toddler are respectable and going to look after the place, but you can't really argue that you're more likely to have trouble with the former!

There's also the issue of declining anyone based on perfectly legitimate criteria, for fear of them playing the discrimination card

All it says is this:

You commit to treat everyone—regardless of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age—with respect, and without judgment or bias.

I'm not sure how those two relate to one another, all it's asking is to treat all others with respect despite how you feel about them.

There's also the issue of declining anyone based on perfectly legitimate criteria, for fear of them playing the discrimination card

How many times does this really happen?

You're assuming it's committed by white people. That's the very definition of racism!

How utterly embarrassing.

You think. You think. It's not about what you think, assuming things based on race and sexuality is the whole point of what this thread is about.

Bravo sir. I applaud your sheer hypocrisy!

No the the thread is about people complaining that they have to be nice to others regardless of race, sex etc. Population of UK is 85% white or something there abouts. How is it racist to assume that there is more racism by whites than any other race?

Considering the majority of people on this forum are almost certainly white and heterosexual, along with almost certainly the majority of those taking exception to the T&Cs it's no unreasonable to use that as an example.

Stop trying to obfuscate and see the statement for what it was.

Its hilarious how some people think that ignoring statistics and removing free will from others is the ultimate evolution of humanity.
