Having a hard time coming to terms with what i just watched on facebook.

A video of a girl, probably around 2 laying next to a bin with a nappy full and leaking down her legs with flies going in and out. Her breathing is laboured and shes unconcious. Its so damn heartbreaking, and being a father this really cut deep! This is Syria and these are the consequences or our foreign policy.

How do you carry on or blank out things like this? I can tell this will be something thats engraved into my mind for life. It actually made me question my participation in this cruel vile world

Ask Lilly Allen. She'll answer for you.

You are right though, images like that boy washed ashore last year are shocking especially when you can relate as a parent of young children

dont ever go to india

seeing toddlers living on the streets is utterly crushing

Just be thankful for what you have and get on with it really.

This video makes that picture look like a happy ending :'(
It's all too much, like i would totally volunteer in Syria if i didnt have any family or a fear of being burnt alive/drowned/throat slit by isis

It's very unsettling seeing some of the horrors befalling such young kids. Before I had children of my own, I wouldn't have thought much on it, in truth. Now, though, it does hit pretty hard.

Thank you, it's a start :)
You can tell who has children and who hasn't, a few comments on here scream that they're childless and a bit of a *******.

OK... Do you want me to look in the back and see if there's a halo for you or something?

Example.

Those 2 statements don't really tie together.

They do. I would do anything to help but i will not leave my children fatherless.

I think it's less about being a childless ****** and more about being a realist that bad things are happening all over the world including in the UK and you can't help them all. Dwelling on the bad in the world gets you no where.

Maybe. I'd have been posting the same sort of stuff pre-parenthood, though.

What's wrong with you? Why the snarky comment? OP isn't looking for brownie points, they have come here to discuss something.

OP - There are probably many ways in which you can help make the world a better place. Do some research with the charities that are involved in helping in these situations, they will be able to direct you better.

*Shrug

You lot can all get depressed about the bad stuff happening in the world if you like. I'd rather just be thankful to be in the position I'm in and make the most of it.

Saying that other people should do something about it doesn't really help anyone.

I'm not sure this has come across the right way. I think I'll just back out of this thread now.
