Daughters corsa was hit while she was sitting in traffic, other driver admitted fault and the only damage to her car is the rear bumper. Insurance could still write it off though and as she is a new driver her insurance could increase. Need to call the other driver tomorrow . What would be the best way of resolving this?

Any witnesses? Her insurance will increase anyway regardless of fault, if insurance (his) is involved.

Ask for a fair price for repairs, get the money and leave things there.

You could fix the damaged bumper or put the money towards another car.

As above, see what the other driver is happy to do. If the other driver has a company car for example, they may not have a choice but to go through the insurance company. Ergo your daughters insurance premium goes up regardless.

How new is the Corsa? I think we're all going on the assumption that being a first car/new driver, it'ls likely to be an old Corsa, so up to you how well you want the bumper repaired. If it's a fairly new Corsa, i'd be pushing for the insurance route anyway. Just remember to go via the 3rd party insurance and not your own.

Car a write off due to floor damage going through our insurance as he has informed his , his car is a write off as well . At least other party has admitted response ability .have been offered a hire car until it gets paid off . Lets see what they offer for a 16 year old corsa with 50,000 miles on the clock

All sorted by admiral, painlessly , cheque arrived for £715 and we have had a ford ecoboost for three weeks while it was sorted out. No loss of no claims but I imagine insurance will still go up.
Looking for a replacement car now up to £2000 if anyone knows a good one.

My gf's car was hit last year when she wasn't in it. Went through the other guys insurance as he was trying to offer silly amounts to fix it!

Insurance renewal a few weeks ago, expecting it to rise with non fault claim added... it did not.

Looks like the additional year or no claims, 3 years, offset the increase which the non fault claim would have added.

I guess it shoes that insurance doesn't always increase depending on the circumstances of the individual.

I would imagine it did, but as you say it's likely offset by the additional NCB.

So you would have probably got a slightly lesser quote had the non-fault claim not exist. Unfortunately just one of those things you can't really check.

Yep that's true.

I feel the first thing by people mention on forums, especially here, that insurance will go up.

I just find it amusing that its not quite clear cut as that... like we said, it has likely went up, but don't know how much due to the years of no claims added.
