I have sold something as pay cash on collection and the buyer is saying he can only collect on certain days / times like mid day (when I am at work) and weekends.

If I have another buyer ready to collect, what are the rules around selling to someone else when it has been sold to a winning bidder?

I'd sack the person off if they can't make it on your terms, and let the person who can have it, buyers can only leave good feedback or none at all now.

You could cancel the sale but agree terms with the next best offer guy, assuming he's happy to trade outside eBay. Will save on fees for you, but will mean no protection too.

What is it with these Ebay threads????

We all know its a cluster **** why use it?

I know how ebay works and paypal and if you have an ounce of grey matter between the microphones, you would stay well clear. :p

Ive never really had and big problems with eBay and my dad uses it pretty much for most of his puchases for his business now.

Just interested to know the terms surrounding an item sale - i.e if the sale is a legal contract or anything that I have to sell to the item winner or if I can just sack him / her off and sell to someone else

I don't know the T&C now with Ebay but they usually always favours the buyer.

Ebay used to be my lively hood, I made good money in the old days. :D

But now, its ok if you selling a few bits and bobs but as a business venture its dead as far as I am concerned. :(

Did you not read the OP?
Somebody to come to his house and pay in cash - no problem just like Gumtree.

Could you just take the item to work and have him pick it up in your lunch break?

Or just do a weekend?

Cheers,

G

I'd put the ball back in his court.

Say these are the times/days that you're available, pick one and let you know.

Is it expensive/heavy? - hence the no delivery?

Imagine wanting to pick something up at a weekend. What an unreasonable guy!

I honestly have to agree with the buyer in this case.

If you're selling it cash on collection, you can't really impose terms such as "Only collect at this time, on this day".

If he's willing to collect on a weekend, there needs to be some compromise.

Yes, the item is heavy. I have let him know he can collect any time after 6pm mid week. Weekend wise I am in Saturday morning but the rest of the weekend i am out (in a different city)

Any time after 6pm doesnt sound too unreasonable to me. Im going to give him the times and if he cannot pick up ill sell to another guy that said he can collect around 7pm most days

make it the next weekend then, work with the buyer

or cancel the sale possibly get bad feedback and sell to the other guy

You can't just sack the guy off if he won the listing. You'll have to cancel the transaction and if it's available do the second chance thing for the other guy.

So basically you advertised an item for collection even though really you are far to busy to accomodate a collection and you want to know how you can blame the buyer?
