Ebay rules - buy on collection

The guy may well work shifts in which case a weekend is completely reasonable.
Maybe you shouldn't have listed it as collection if you were only really available for someone with a 9-5 job to collect from.

I have sold something as pay cash on collection and the buyer is saying he can only collect on certain days / times like mid day (when I am at work) and weekends.

If I have another buyer ready to collect, what are the rules around selling to someone else when it has been sold to a winning bidder?

rofl, so he's given you multiple options and you cant accommodate any off them, this is your problem. gees you cant be at home for 10 minutes at the weekend.
you know when most collections are made like this.

Next time don't advertise collection.

As above, try and find a solution.

If not possible, you might be able to offer a 'second chance' to the second highest bidder, assuming it was an auction. Not used this in a while though so not sure it still exists.

I sold my sofa on ebay the other week, guy paid by Paypal and then asked me if I could keep it for another week and he will collect it at the weekend. You need to be prepared for a buyer to ask to collect at weekends or don't waste your time doing collection only as this is when most people have spare time (unlike yourself)

Wouldn't accept PayPal if you are allowing a collection. Buyer could claim he never received item and PayPal will automatically give him his money back as you won't be able to supply proof of postage.

Cash on collection only.

This. You have no proof he has collected the sofa and next week he can just get all his money back if he wants,

So you have disgruntled a genuine buyer because you weren't specific enough to advertise your availability for collection. Expect loads of poo through your letter box if he has your address. I hope the second buyer scams you.

So basically you advertised an item for collection even though really you are far to busy to accomodate a collection and you want to know how you can blame the buyer?

No. Mid week after 6pm is not exactly unreasonable. Another person is fine collecting at this time. Same with me - when I won something that was collection only the seller said i could collect on a certain day at a certain time and I went out my way to get a train to his house and collect at that time. I didnt say "sorry, i can only collect saturday or sunday morning"

If I was collecting something or advertising something for collection only, I'd assume it would be on a weekend. This is when most people are free.

so he's offering you midday some days of the week and all weekend.

You are offering him after 6pm and Saturday morning.

I think you both need to work it out and surely this isn't warranting ANOTHER ebay thread.......

If I was the buyer I would say the seller is being unreasonable and at the end of the day you never stated on your advert that you wouldn't be available for basically 5 days a week (unless after 6pm) and most of the weekend.

You have to accept PayPal if they choose to pay that way.

no you don't. go make a listing.
in the advert all you say is cash on collection only.

never had an issue with cash on collection, either as buyer or seller.
