I sell a lot on ebay, but recently its become more and more common place that the format is buyer biased...in the sense of any case, always found in buyers favour...regardless. No human intervention and even when you go through live chat, these humans have no power (apparently) to use common sense

E.g sold an item in my shop, buyer opened a case that the item wasnt received, proceeded to explain how it was damaged, even said they had installed it, which didnt make sense as the returns policy states, return in good order.
Accepted the return, item sent back in a right mess...i uploaded a picture to show the breach of the returns policy and the state of the item.
Conclusion - Buyer refunded/Buyer favoured.
Appealed - Appeal failed.

Appauling all the way through.

So im thinking, i have a website, but this is very hard to generate traffic through...getting to the first page on google, SEO improvements etc.

So do people use alternative selling formats? (
Not Gumtree as i sell vinyl products and ive heard this is also open to scammers)

SPHOCK!

As a side note pretty much any platform is going to be open to the seller being scammed as they almost all are very heavily weighted in terms of the buyer these days.

Gumtree is perfect if you can deal in person or by BT though as it's just a classifieds site they couldn't care less what buyers/sellers get up to really.

its the pitfalls of selling online. Gumtree is fine if you don't mind chancers or traders offering ridiculously low prices on your stuff. Tried it once it was a waste of time, put it on eBay instead got loads of bids and a good price too. eBid is a joke its literally a sellers market in that they have no buyers, they make their money by selling you a big slice of listings for 6 months or so, that no-one and I mean no one, will ever buy.

OP, do you work for a large workplace? They might have a notice board (online or offline) with a buy/sell section. I do quite well on ours, have sold a few phones etc no probs.

Private forums, I recently started selling on the MM and it was literally the most stress-free way of selling I've ever done, however I appreciate it's only mostly only any good for computer components..

Most of the alternative ebay sites seem poor with not many people listing much on there, stuff like Gumtree does tend to have things on from time to time - but I've often seen deals on there which are far too good to be true, and I don't feel like turning up to buy something that's likely stolen goods, or to get mugged..

I think It's just a reality that ebay has a captive audience when it comes to buying/selling...

Members market is awesome, you can get rid of some broken/old/spare parts though if you price them right. I've bought a few broken bits off there to have a go at repairing over the years :)
