Morning guys,

My PSN account this morning has been hacked and money taken from my pay pal account. I received an email advising money had been added to my wallet, £120 to be exact, the next thing I know I receive an email telling me my account email ID has been changed so I cant even log on.

I called Paypal who have advised me to ring 0203 5382665 (shut at the moment) and they did advise that this wasn't the first call they have had this morning about Sony so check your accounts and change passwords...might be worth unlinking your paypal as well.

:(

I hope I get this back, I could do without £120 disappearing.

I don't leave any payment information on PSN, even with 2FA....just buy topup codes on the rainforest and apply them.

Without 2FA you absolutely should not leave your PSN account linked to any payment method.

Yea I know that now. I have spoken to the bank who will stop any payment through to Paypal and Paypal are looking into it at their end. My issue is they have my account for another 50 minutes and I cant do anything about it.

Sony enabled 2FA a few weeks back on PSN, time to enable it now as its off by default.

I will when I can get back into my account. They were supposed to open at 1030 but of course they haven't turned the phones over.

Paypals comments were interesting, I wonder if this is a bigger issue then just me.

So are we saying all of Sony's PSN account details have been compromised, or just yours?

If just yours, or conjecture from PayPal that they're getting calls about PSN then thread title is somewhat alarmist...

I wouldn't know if all accounts have been compromised, its impossible to say. What I am saying is mine was and pay pal have advised they have been inundated with calls in regards to Sony accounts.

Just trying to warn folk.

Did you post this on reddit?

Nope.

I've just enabled 2FA on my account now, took about 2 minutes. I don't have anything linked to it mind but guess it's best to do it anyway.

Got back into my account, money still In the wallet so Sony are sorting now.

The person who did it set up two sub accounts with two email addresses...both have their names on...insanely stupid.

Hopefully Sony will sort.

Bizarre, but the fact they haven't spent the money should make it straight forward for them to refund.

Whatever you do don't get the bank or PayPal to issue a charge back; go through the process with Sony and they will refund it.

Woke up this morning to a bunch of emails, funds added to wallet (£20), paypal, PS id change, EA Security code etc...

Ffs, how do you stop this crap.

Currently on hold with HSBC, cancelling my card, cant call Sony until 11am

While on with HSBC it appears they have tried to take a further £120 out, both payments are pending and have not gone through so hopefully I can stop them before they are processed. My debit card is cancelled and I've unlinked my card from PayPal.
