Gave my notice in last night

Was it you who said you have tinnitus? Doesn't playing gigs every week make that worse?

I have it myself and am taking a long break from going to gigs to see if any improvement happens.

Some of you may smirk but this was a major decision for me.
I have spent the last 17 years with this rock covers band and last night me and the lead guitarist gave our notice in - http://www.disturbinthepeace.co.uk

This has taken me two years to do this so it wasn't a light decision. I really thought at 58 and 46 years gigging I was going to end my music days with this band but I could take no more. Over the last two years I've been asking for new material to do but nothing has happened. Every night I get on stage I die a little with the realisation I'm going to be doing the same old songs over & over & over again.
I was thrilled when a few month ago I told the lead guitarist and he thought the same thing so we have got something else in place doing stuff that nobody does in our area.
We have 3 gigs to do and that's it, I'll be losing 3 brothers/close friends but it had to be done for my sanity.
Yeah, I know it's only a 2p covers band but 3 of us have had 17 years together, 4 of us have had 10 years together and all 5 of us have had 8 years together, that's a lot of invested time in people so it feels like a marriage breakup. In fact at 1am this morning we were discussing what belongs to who etc.

Had to get it off my chest because I'm sitting here thinking 'What have I done, why have I broken up the marriage?'.

Pfft, that's not how bands break up, didn't you not see a members soul rise from their body after a heroin overdose, a la Axel Rose ?
