Moving from a Asus 1070 sli to Evga 1080 sli

I got the classifieds as its my fave 1080 but i did miss the lovely asus backplate led lights.

So looking at the evga 1080s they already have a cut out on the backplate. so I thought maybe I can make the led light affect my self.

So I bought a thin white led strip, the ones without the rubber waterproofing so it makes it thinner.

I then cut out plastic from my car screen wash bottle and cut a rectangle shape out of it, unscrewed the back plate off and firmly placed the plastic on top backplate where the EVGA logo is, the led affect wasnt uniformed so I purchased a light diffusing plastic which is also heat resistant.

as below this is the effect i got, i still think its way to bright, unfortunately i cant dim the led lights, what i need is a thicker plastic to give me that blur affect but im limited to the thickness of the plastic,

it should be no more than 1mm in thickness, so im thinking if I should use a different colour, or maybe a darker colour plastic?

Ive seen some coloured Acrylic Sheets on ocuk but they are too thick, what i need is a credit card sized bit of Acrylic that it not transparent,

the pics below, any ideas welcome as I really want that Asus 1080 backplate led affect just a little glow

Electrical tape palced in sections round parts of an led will dim it.

May be worth experimenting with masking the led itself and avoiding plastic covering the vents.

Letting the heat from the card have every chance to vent through the gaps may be a good idea given the issues evega are having.

p.s black thermal pad would also tone down the light, cut in strips blocking sections of the L.E.D or one long piece that covers part of the l.e.d.

If you can attach pads safely to the part of the board you have the strip on.

few pieces of well cut red photo film over the LED will tone down the light. And it will glow red like the card should! :D

Not to mention it wont block off the vents either. Best off not blocking those off.

ive just removed the whole led it self, just looked at the post about evga cards burning up due to poor heat dissipation, this will make it worse if i cover the vents up with led lights, damn this has spooked me

Best thing to do, did not like to say. Bios update for the cards you can get on evegas site now for the classy.

It alters the fan curve. Slight increase in noise but better temps.

Just put it on a single classified, noise increase is not too bad (you can still set a custom curve) and the temps have certainly dropped.
