How much is too much (Alcohol)

To me alcoholism isn't simply a matter of how much you drink, or when. It's about your relationship with alcohol. Obviously alcoholics often drink far too much, and/lor often drink too frequently but its more than that. Otherwise it would be easy to know when you've crossed the line.

For me, my relationship had become a love/hate relationship in which I definitely didn't have the final say. I couldn't have enough, I could not drink for days, even weeks at a time, but once i started I lost all control over how much I drank, I craved more. I'd drink until there was no more, or until I'd pass out. Many of my friends drank similarly to me when with me, but they didn't have the same reaction to it that I did. That's the difference.

Don't listen to Angilion! It's time to up your game and double your intake of diet coke to 16 litres a week...! With not one 70cl bottle of rum, but TWO!

Garrr!

I could do that no problem!

Looking good OP, no homo

Thanks beautiful

As for the other comments about me "ignoring advice, not liking the answers or being in denial hence why i posted "

I posted it because i try to stay aware, i've drunk this level since i was fairly young, be it from out with mates or a few pints with my dad. However because its no become routine i'm a little bit more aware... I really dont think i have a problem, i do genuinely think i could go a week without it... But i dont want to, because i'l be bored.... I do my misses head, i get bored really easily..

HOWEVER.... I have listened to what people have said and from next week i'm going to just stick to drinking on a Saturday and simply add what i was going to drink on Wednesday on top :D... Jokes.... Jokes.... I am gonna give up on the Wednesday. Meaning 2 ltr's of Diet coke and half a rum.

If you're going to be bored then why not think of something to do instead?

Because if you sit there doing the same thing but without alcohol it'll be pretty frustrating. What I'm getting at here is try to do something completely different on the Wednesday, it'll probably help take your mind off it - even if you're not addicted, you'll still have the thoughts simply due to the routine.

Good on you for giving it a go :)

I spend too much time on here, so if you can give up drink on a Weds I am going to stop reading and posting on here for the rest of the night. Good night!!

OP don't get stressed as 70cl of rum or whiskey a week is nothing. ;)

I used to kill a 70cl bottle of Martel a night!

Rough patch and all in my life that was about 13 years ago.

Now its about 10 pints of Guinness a night, or as I say "A gallon of Guinness a day keeps the doctor away". :p

But I never used to drink and did not really drink at all from the ages of 17 to 30.
Couldn't stand the stuff raging head aches the next day and feeling real bad so I never drank.

I cannot drink anything else now, I might have a nice brandy now and again but that's it.

I was fully tested about 2-3 years ago and the is sod all wrong with me, liver fine, kidneys fine etc and I been on a gallon a night for about 7 years.

If it was not for alcohol we would not be here as it was safer to drink in the middle ages than water.:D

However harsh as it sounds, regularly drinking that much throughout your life will dramatically increase your risk of liver failure/cancer. My grandma did it and died, as did numerous others of my family. All frequent heavy drinkers.

It is most apparent that you have a problem when you state you've already done this for years with a "and it's fine" attitude. It's not is it? :)

let me zone into racing games to the point I've done my fastest lap times ever.

Try without the beer, you'd probably do better ;)

also, I've tried (on holiday there) to keep up with some saffas...

Didn't end well, puking your guts up during a drought with super strict water usage isn't the most fun thing.

Yes it is as I have given up illegal drugs, so smashed my mind now it smash body time. :p

Just chill, kick back and enjoy life, you don't live long enough to worry about this that and the other.

If you going to die you will die, so why worry about things you don't know what or when or if will happen.

I don't eat chocolate much at all about twice a month, I don't do fizzy drinks, I don't consume diet food or sugar free beverages.

I do not want to live forever so am here to enjoy myself, just passing through guys and gals. :D

The drinking itself isn't a worry, neither is the quantity, its the regularity of it Id be concerned about. Its not that you're drinking its why?

I love drinking but its not regimental, its horses for courses. Might have skinful on a Sat night with pals, may just have a couple on another Saturday at home with the gf, dont usually drink during the week because I have no reason to want to but maybe if i had a nice local pub id be a couple of pints a night kind of person. You can be alcohol dependant on very little if someone takes it away from you.

ive already posted that i drink 3 bottles of red a week, the reason i think is that my base line mood and drinking mood are miles apart ,i know i am playing health roulette but maybe others who say stop should also move to the country like me to avoid lung damage and not eat meat like me to lessen cancer risks.
having said that its good to be reminded about moderation especially with Xmas approaching ,note to self "stop choosing wine by alcohol content"

This thread is a stark reminder why I quit drinking 11 months ago.I can hand on my heart say I feel far better in mind, wallet, physically and miss none of the "taste"

As has already been said its a poison and I truly believe in the not to distance future it will be viewed in a similar light to how smoking is now.

Shared a bottle of wine last night. Had 2 glasses. This was my first alcohol for about 3 months. Man did I feel crap this morning. Got up as 5am as per usual to go to the gym and felt nauseous.

A shame really as I do quite like the buzz when drinking, but no way do I like what I feel like the next day.

You need to find your drink. ;)

I used to drink larger and it used to kill me.

Same with aftershocks and some shorts. :(

I have nailed it down to 2 drinks Guinness and brandy, I can do about 2 desperados but that's it.

If the drink makes you ill in the morning you drinking the wrong drink. ;)
