To me alcoholism isn't simply a matter of how much you drink, or when. It's about your relationship with alcohol. Obviously alcoholics often drink far too much, and/lor often drink too frequently but its more than that. Otherwise it would be easy to know when you've crossed the line.
For me, my relationship had become a love/hate relationship in which I definitely didn't have the final say. I couldn't have enough, I could not drink for days, even weeks at a time, but once i started I lost all control over how much I drank, I craved more. I'd drink until there was no more, or until I'd pass out. Many of my friends drank similarly to me when with me, but they didn't have the same reaction to it that I did. That's the difference.
