John Lewis Xmas Advert 2016/7

This is the hashtag for the topic on twitter, if you want to talk about the advert stick #BusterTheBoxer in your message and it will be added to that topic. Basically John Lewis want to get the tag trending.

Twitter is where I saw the preview clips the other night but it just said #bounce2016 I guessed it was John Lewis from the look of the house and the font used however.

Ahhh cheers! It's a bit like Facebook groups then where the URL ends with e.g. /bounce2016. I'm a bit of a luddite for Web 2.0 so had to ask :-)

Both of those adverts. The JL one and the student one are complete crap! I knew who JL was before this and frankly I won't be buying anything from them because of nostalgia.

You know who I would buy from. Someone who came on the telly and showed me their prices are lower than everyone else. Like the Lidl ones.

These ads are astounding from a brand awareness point of view. Over the last few years John Lewis have managed to position themselves as a retailer who is synonymous with Christmas, that's not a bad position to be in. I would hazard that if you asked 100 individuals to name a retailer they associate with Christmas a good portion would mention John Lewis.

The benchmark you use for advertising effectiveness is far too narrow.

Even if its not British. I thought we were #making Britain great again. You won't do that by using a cheap German supermarket to get your goods. Buy British, buy John Lewis, or are you an enemy of the people ?

But that's exactly my point. You'd have to be pretty stupid to buy from a store that's expensive because you've seen their advert and are aware of them. I actively avoid JL becaue of their prices.
Same with Coco-Cola. I don't drink it because I recognise their brand, I buy it because it taste nicer than Pepsi who I also recognise. etc etc etc. Frankly I drink Lidl coke cause it taste just as good and is about 50p. Not £2

U WOT

How on earth can a dog jumping on a trampoline be elitist.

normal blue collar workers can't afford hosues with gardens big enough to fit a trampoline. It's why they all have sofa's in their front yards, so it must be elitist and panders to the middle class and elitist entitled parts of society :p

Your assumption is that the only factor worth considering in any purchase is price. What about added extras? It's pretty well agreed that JL customer service, warranty, returns policy and price match are all excellent, this all adds significant value to a purchase. What about the general shopping experience? I'd rate JL way above for instance currys for general shopping experience, that adds value too.

Focussing on price exclusively in all instances is a mistake.
