PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Run into a little issue with cabling, my rated '2160p' cable running from the AVR to the TV cannot output 2160p RGB, but outputs YUV420 fine. Go direct and RGB setting works absolutely fine. Little annoyance but other than that it looks fantastic on The last of Us.

Does the pro have to 'detect' you have a 4K TV before the console outputs at 4K?

Do 1080 TVs 'downsample' 4K?

Or should I say do 1080 TVs scale a 4K signal?

What I'm trying to get at is, would a 4K game on the Pro downsampled on a 1080 TV look better than 1080 on a normal PS4?

If the Pro has to detect a 4K TV to offer a 4K option, I can see a little gadget being made to bypass this as realistically how many people will buy a 4K TV to fully 'utilise' the Pro.

EDIT - Hmmmmm, I wonder - http://m.lightinthebox.com/en/newes...2k-60hz-ycbcr-4-2-0_p4874589.html?prm=1.5.1.1

That's what I want to know as well. I play on a 1440p screen and it's looks pretty good but better aliasing, more frames might be worth upgrading to Pro.

I doubt it'll work like that, though.

I ordered mine 5 minutes after it went on sale at Amazon in September. Apparently it's still on the van and out for delivery. Been out for delivery since 10:30 this morning, extremely suspicious.

If it wasnt for the chepaer price at Amazon of £332.49, I'd have gone out and purchased else where after work.

Tesco same price

Extremely impressed with Titanfall 2 at 1080p, really smooth in places where the PS4 struggled, even in multiplayer defo a serious improvement. Really decent upgrade over my original PS4.

You would be better off running in 1080p with the extra graphical settings than downscaling 4k if the game has the options.

Set to best settings and let it downsample then enjoy.

Oh noes, I've just realised The Last Guardian comes out next month, if they release a Pro 1080 optimised patch I don't think I could put off getting a Pro.

Well I order one last month and today two arrived and I have definitely only paid for one, they must have been running a buy one get one free promo when I ordered :)

Well happy to be hearing some good vibes about the Pro. I cancelled my pre-order fearing it was going to be a duck with all stuff circulating re CPU bottlenecks, missing 4K blu-ray player and poor game line-up. That order might well be going back in :)

Very brief go on it just then. Marked improvement in bf1 conquest, smooth as butter.
Quick go on cod remastered, noticeably another foliage on that snipy map. Got to shoot note but can't wait to play all day tomorrow
