Never did anything for me in my youth, to much doom and gloom, but I appreciate his talent both as a poet and singer.

This is his and is one of the most covered songs ever.

Not sure it really does anything for me either, and I didn't know who he was until I had a quick Google, but RIP. :(

Bit harsh. He was more famous than any of us are likely to be. Even though we hadn't heard of him. :p

I saw him at Benicassim in 2008 with no expectations or knowledge of his music beyond the classic tracks I thought everyone knew (this thread suggests otherwise though). He put on an amazing performance that held the crowd with no special effects or gimmicks. Great performer and incredible lyricist. Will be missed.

Can't say i'm a huge fan of his work, but you have to respect someone who was in the industry for so long and remained relevant, and popular.

RIP.

John Travolta on drums? A man of many talents. :p

I'm surprised so many here haven't heard of him. I would have thought he is an artist that everybody knows.

Still, RIP. He wrote some great songs.

Born with the gift of a golden voice.

A phenomenal talent. Saw him live at Wembley a few years ago.

RIP.
