North / South divide - your view

I've you've got a few bob in the south, you'll live in a broom cupboard chocked by car fumes and made miserable by stressful tube journeys and horrible attitudes.

If you've got a few bob in the north, you'll live in a 5 bedroom detached with fresh air from the greenery behind your house and drive to work in your own private transport.

:p

My sister lives in Lancashire. Whenever I go up to see her I'm bowled over by the friendly manner of pretty much everyone I meet.

Weird that so many people I speak to love living in London, and many more would love to live here. Sure it's very different from bumble****, Lancs or wherever but people come to live here from all over the world. I have lived in mainland Europe and travel a lot for work but London is still my favourite city.

I wish the North was better, I'd be selling up right now and retiring there given the house prices. :D ;)

(Actually I wouldn't because I'd be removing all kinds of opportunities for my kids living down South)

Weird that, so many people I speak to hate living in London and many more would hate to live there.

If you like living in a smoggy, congested place full of unfriendly people then that's your personal preference. Not for me though ;)

Southerners are blighted by Essex. Gives them a bad rep.

Been to the bad bits in Essex then? Southend, Basildon, Tilbury, Grays yeah I'd tend to agree with you. But there are small pockets of niceness down here you know. ;)

as a yorkshireman quite new to living in corwall (3 years ish) i feel the average person is about in the same boat financially as where i came from but have a ten fold better lifestyle

Southerners: Rude, unwelcoming, up their own bums
Northerners: Let's go for a drink

I'm from the Midlands and we are ace.

I used to travel to Manchester a lot and to be fair I quite liked it up there. Much more friendly than down here in London.

That London is full of people who mainly only know That London, they rarely travel anywhere that sees them go north. Their loss, frankly but amazing how many seem to know all about the North but rarely, if ever, go. I have worked in London village for 20 years on and off, but lived in the Midlands, I would never want to live down south and I could if I wished easily.

Each to their own, London is a fab city, but not for me to live in.

Hahaha yes most people who live in London aren't well travelled compared to the North. :D

(What planet are you on)

He didn't say they aren't. He said he thinks many Londoners feel qualified to comment on the north when perhaps many of them have never actually been there. The likelihood is that many more people from the north have travelled to London on a visit than the other way around isn't it though?

No doubt Londoners will be generally well travelled (well, those that aren't poor ghetto dwellers I guess). After all, you're all practically French as opposed to English aren't you? So I'm sure the mother land beckons you back over to France on occasion :p
