Selling consoles

I changed the thermal paste, fairly quiet since I did that which was few months ago. It's listed online too( only 1 hour left lol)

How easy was it to change the thermal paste? I happy to keep the PS4 as long as its not loud. Good luck with the sale.

Take it to CEX, game or whatever, just avoid eBay at all cost!

If you get a dodgy buyer or courier screws up you'll be out of money and the console.

Why all the negativity for ebay on these forums? It's one of the world's biggest online retailers. I've bought and sold on there for 10 years without a single issue.

Yes, the precentage they take is high, but thats the price you pay for selling to a worldwide market of millions of buyers.

If it really is as bad as people make out why is it used by so many people and so successful and profitable?

Was in Game yesterday and they were offering £80-£90 for PS4 trade-ins, had a big sign saying Pre-owned PS4's starting from £175. Even the girl telling some guy what he would get sounded embarrassed.

It's the refunds policy that puts a lot of people off. There's an engrained fear that eBay will steal your money to refund some little **** that claimed the items didn't turn up/were broken/weren't as advertised. Plus the fees thing. Plus the fact you have minimal control over who you sell to.

I sold my Xbox One on there a few months back without any problems. But it's always a bit more nerve-racking than selling on here/AVF/Gumtree, where the buyer has little comeback (small claims court).

If eBay were perfect, why do so many private sellers look to classifieds/Gumtree/Shpock? Businesses go to eBay because it's where the buyers are - without customers you don't have a business. For a private seller trying to shift the occasional item, it isn't always worth the potential hassle. More buyers = more demand = higher prices, but fees can kill any extra value.

Problem is it's dominated by businesses now, not 2nd hand private sellers.

They are making profit, and can afford to loose out on a small % of sales. (Not that they want to) And they probably have more time to deal with problems, as it should be part of their business model.

If a private seller has a bad experience it's likely to be more of a significant % of their total sales. And eBay has moves to being more on the buyers side than the seller. Buyer feedback is also pretty pointless now they can only have positive feedback.

Also the charges have pretty much doubled for private users to 10%, it should to be around 5%.

Oh and i forgot now you effectively have to have a 6 month wait before you can be safe you aren't going to get a claim for faulty goods.

I took my PS4 and Xbox One in to CEX today and was offered £425 in credit which I used to buy a Brand new PSVR and two used but in excellent condition move controllers for £430 (£350 + £80) so just had to give them a crispy fiver :)

I'm over the moon as I wanted PSVR and I'd have never got that much from MM, AVF or eBay, the process was easy and staff were great :)

I took my sons 360 in with about 30 games.
He took 350 in vouchers.
Used it on elite controller and Fifa 17 for his Xbox one.

Saves the hassle with gumtree, you need to wait, probably took 2 hours all in, while they check your cds are working etc.
Sky landers figures took ages trying to identify each one.
Overall CEX is fine.

I only live 10mins away so took them in to CEX went home had lunch then went back to collect my PSVR etc. Simples :)
