Xbox One S vs Elite

Looking at getting a console to take to my girlfriends for the weekends, and Xbox one seems the cheapest and most logical
Can get a bargain on a 500gb S model, my mate has one for sale for £185 with no games, fully boxed with about 2 hours use, but the Elite is only 199.99 everywhere at the moment, the S makes more sense for transporting as its smaller etc, but it coming with no games is sad..
Is the elite worth the extra 15 quid as it comes with the elite controller and the 1tb SSHD?

Also just to add to the questioning, what about the PS4, I USED TO own one but sold it a while back due to me not playing much as frankly i havent had the urge i used to have to game...

Do a search this thread came up 2 days ago. At that price go for the xbox one S (even if it was more expensive I still would).

Only don't if you (never) plan on buying a 4k/HDR TV and don't appreciate a smaller form factor. It's also slightly louder too but both when properly working units, are pretty inaudible.

I'd probably get the Elite TBH. 1TB vs 500GB. Hybrid Drive vs Hard Drive. Elite Controller vs Standard Controller. And brand new, all for only £15 more.

4K is only a tangible benefit if you have a 4K TV or plan to purchase one in the near future. There's always the option of upgrading to an S or the Xbox One "Pro" at some point in the future when buying a 4K TV.

I probably will at some point, I plan on getting a nice 4k HDR sometime next year. I do very much appreciate the small form factor and no power brick as I will be taking it to my girlfriends and back to my house on a half weekly basis...

How much of a difference does the hybrid drive make is there any tests that have been done? (will take a google and report back)
I understand the Elite controller is like a Scuf, and they were pretty awesome back in the trickshotting days of MW2 haha

Scuff wish they where like the Elite controller.

I would go for the Elite for the controller alone.

Scuff pads are nowhere near the level of the Elite controller.

I doubt the hybrid drive makes that much difference apart from really specific cases to be generally noticable.

Obviously the added storage (double the size) on the hybrid is worth it for a heavy gamer, but at your gf's surely its going to be the 2ndry system so maybe worth considering?

In fairness im at hers more than mine and i will be trasnferring the xbox between the 2 hence why i thought the S may be better as its a lot smaller and lighter

Scuf is a company which buys the original controller then mods bits onto it.

The elite controller was built from the ground up to have the mods built in as standard.

It's a bit like buying a proper car or ordering a kit car off some random guy. Scuf have terrible reviews but people keep on supporting them because they sponsor a lot of pro gamers. Basically advertising is keeping their sales high rather than word of mouth and service.

Scuf is a great idea with poor execution. Build quality is seriously lacking.

Just as an FYI, Scuf was just the first controller company i remembered from back in the day...
I do want the S but i feel like the elite is better in some way, i just need pros and cons of them both for travelling them around and cost basically

Its much smaller, the PSU is also built in to it, it has HDMI 2.0 and supports HDR incase you ever buy a 4k screen, it has a small CPU overclock over the original/elite so games run ever so slightly better.

Benefit of the elite is probably price and storage space.

In all fairness to the storage space, if/when I run out, buying a new hard drive is always an option, and I might not even need to get it, just depends how into gaming I get again...
