Thanks.

What are your current gpu, cpu and motherboard because for £300 you are not going to get much for your money when it comes to replacing all three?

GTX950 aint so bad unless you trying to game higher than 1080 res.

New CPU/board /RAM

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £308.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Board is the same size as yours so everything should fit nicely.

There are some DDR3 Skylake boards out there so you could keep your existing ram.

Such as - https://www.asus.com/UK/Motherboards/H110M-D-D3/

You could but the low end AM3 boards suck for high TDP CPUS such as the 8350 (Power phases on the board and cooling on these.

Or you could go for a last gen i5+Z97/H91 board which is still DDR3,

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £289.88
(includes shipping: £9.90)

And thats still going to be WAY faster AMD as they have not been competitive for many years now.

Edit looking at the price of that Haswell/Devils canyon CPU VS Skylake+DDR4 its not actually worth it.

Alright thanks. Would it be worth dropping to an i3 6100 and buying a 1060 6gb aswell, or just sticking to the 950 and buying the i5?

You havent said what resolution you game at but I used a GTX950 way back when and it chugged along ok at 1080P.

You should find an i5 helps it perform better over your AMD APU, sort of unleashing the shackles.

It's not worth bothering with as it's little better than what he already has going by Anandtech's cpu bench.

Op, unless you significantly increase the budget you are not going to be able to do whet you want and replace the gpu, cpu and motherboard (ram too if DDR4 is needed). As you can see a good cpu takes a big chunk of the budget which doesn't leave enough for the gpu and vice versa with the gpu. To replace all you are looking at £416.17 by going for the dead Haswell platform and getting a i3, H81 motherboard, a 6Gb 1060 that you seem set on and re-using your current memory:-

By going for the current Skylake platform you would need DDR4 so A i3 6100, H110 motherboard, 8Gb kit of DDR4 and the 1060 now brings us up to £470.46:-

The alternative would be to go second hand for some parts. As you don't have enough posts to access our members market that leaves ebay.

It's not a big jump, but it's a small outlay for a better cpu and it's a small percentage of the budget.

In his situation, he'll get the most benefit by spending most of the budget on the gpu as it makes the biggest difference when gaming.
