Apple to Introduce New Macs at October 27 Event

Hopefully I get to play with some in the Apple Store next week when i visit.

Was told at the weekend the touchbars wont be in and out on display until they actually have stock to sell. My local store has had the new non touch ones in for a while now (relatively speaking).

a lot of the ones on Amazon where US imports as well, gotta watch out for the keyboard layout.

Was looking for a 2015 15" pro with 16gb ram, looks like they are around £1600 which is just over the work budget :(

Local computer store has both 13" and 15" stock model in stock...i am very tempted but I just need more ram dammit for the 13" and 15" is too big to grab and go.

I actually found the US keyboard on my Air to be way better than the UK one on the MBP

I prefer the names on the keys instead of weird little symbols, and the shape of some of the keys too.

The air keyboard was also firmer and less rattly, but that's probably more to do with differences in the two models as opposed to keyboard layout.

Oh and the US Macs also never came with that extension cable AFAIK

I'm tempted to cancel my 13" and just go with the original plan of getting a MacBook. What's the chances they will see a refresh any time soon?

Fair play if there is a specific software you absolutely can't live without that's only on osx. Else I would be more open minded.

I like the ability to write iMessages from a laptop instead of getting my phone out, plus how Photos sync's up with my iMac, phone and whatever else. I can Facetime my mum when I'm cooking instead of having to balance up my phone on something. iCloud for Windows was terrible the last time I tried it. I'm also a UNIX/Linux admin so I like the ability to use terminal to do things as well as connect to my Debain server natively.

I use Windows 10 most days for my gaming rig (see sig) however that's only ever when I want to play a game. Everything else is done on my iMac.

Also printing, and this really annoys me, no matter what I do, I cannot print/scan using Windows 10 and my HP printer. iOS and macOS work first time, every time.

And don't get me started on Windows backups/restores!

Well the new MBPs are faster and have ever-so-slightly better battery life, but the price increase isn't worth it IMO. If I were you Doosky I'd consider a used 13" i5/7 16gb 2015 one. They can be had for less than £1,000 in excellent condition, then jump to the new Macbooks next year when they get Kabby Lake and Trump has destroyed the value of the Dollar.

That's why I'm thinking of the 12" MacBook, as it'll only ever get used for photos, browsing and the occasional word documents. It's portable enough and should be powerful enough. If I then need more power, get a 15" next year with the new hardware.

They have same cpu as the previous macbook pros. They may have a slightly faster ssd and gpu but that's it. It don't come with kaby Lake cpu.
