What's happened to Movember this year?

Too itchy for me. Grew a big one a few years ago but it was hell. Started last year but couldn't stand the itching and shaved it off before I scratched them damn thing off my face.

This is why your parents taught you not to trust a man with a beard. Anyone who walks around with that much facial irritation and says nothing and does nothing about it cannot be trusted.

I'm doing movember again this year. Do it every year. Itchy as ****, but for a good cause. I agree that the novelty has worn off for a lot of people though so there are fewer people doing it. It's a cause I am quite passionate about though, hence my continued support.

Also doing it this year. Got a few hundred quid raised already so its worth it to look like a plonker for a month.

It's quite sad that something that is a very good cause and to do with raising issues with men is classed as a novelty and quickly drops off the radar.

This makes me quite sad.

Not many did it for the right reasons anyway, was all about the facebook likes of the daily moustache post for some.

To the ones who did it genuinely to raise money then fair play.

I've had a full beard for a few years now and never have the urge to itch it. You did wash it right? :p

Too many charity things going on during the course of the year now what with the interweb and social media so I guess these thing go out of fashion and get watered down.

This happened :D

Because people realise that growing a moustache is not a challenge and whilst it does raise awareness looking like a plonker for a month is daft and in some instances does not look professional.

I don't mind the awareness campaign, but I refuse to sponsor people growing facial hair, or not drinking for a month or whatever. Seriously, if you want to do something that is impressive, run a marathon, learn a new skill, cycle around the world - I'll sponsor you generously for things that are a challenge, I won't sponsor someone for doing something which requires no effort.

This is my view also. Zip-lining or abseiling seem to be popular recently among the "sponsor me" brigade. Never see bungee jumping in there though.

HOLY NECRO!!

Seriously... what's happened to movember this year too? Haven't seen or heard it mentioned anywhere.

Have the hipsters ruined it? ;)

A lot of Pro Rugby players are doing it and quite a few of the Aviva Premiership grounds have tie-ins with the Movember charity and loads of men's health awareness posters and flyers at games.

I'm doing it (every year). Doesn't bother me that it's not in vogue anymore as long as I can keep raising money for something I feel very strongly about. Given the number of people that post in GD about mental health problems or physical health issues, I'm surprised more of us aren't interested in getting that early detection and treatment message out there and raising some cash to help.

It is getting a bit itchy around the corners of my mouth though.

If anyone does feel compelled to donate a couple quid, please do

I'm doing it again this year and always have done. I don't raise money from it but rather try and raise awareness. When someone asks me 'why the **** have you that thing on your face' I explain why - 9 times out of 10 I'm met with surprise.
