my partner sold them an iphone, £175 offered so she went for it. today they emailed saying it has a mark on the screen so can offer £65 or send it back. i told her to have it returned

she did say theres a very faint mark on the screen but nothing they havent accepted off of me in the past. how do we know they wont damage it more on return? we have no proof of the state the phone was in on dispatch so just have to hope. any one had this themselves?

Had them do the same to me last year. iPhone 5S and they took £100 off for an absolutely tiny little micro-scratch on the front. Told them to send it back and then stuck it on the bay.

I had this with Phone Recyclers, I swear they're all committing fraud by saying there's something wrong with the phones when there's not. I called their bluff as the screen had a protector and a case screen cover on it all it's life and must have only been used a half a dozen times.

Email came that they'd received it but where knocking off around 25% due "Screen Scratch all over screen".

A polite call later telling them it was a con and I would like the phone back as I could then confirm what scratches had appeared in the space of 24hrs of delivery.

Funnily enough they "did me a favour" and paid full price, I nearly asked for it back anyhow but I thought as above, they might scratch the screen on purpose and send it back.

Concerning thing is the email says theres a crack at the top corner of the touch screen, and there isnt to our knowledge! Just a very fine scratch on the screen somewhere :/ i suppose best bet is take it back and if its damaged more than what we know of we can contact them and argue but i dont know how that would go

I had one of the recyclers try and knock me down a couple of years ago with the "there are scratches on the screen", my reply was "take of the screen protector & check again"

I got the full amount :)

Phone has been returned to us with a small crack in the top corner that wasnt there upon sending or else we wouldnt have bothered due to them not giving much with that sort of condition. We packaged it in a small box as requested and i got her to pad it all out with bubble wrap

What do we do at this point? Theres no proof of the condition before sending of course and i imagine they will just say its how they recieved it

Pretty much as you think. Nothing you can do so chalk it up to a loss and either throw it in the bin or get it repaired locally and try to resell again.

Years ago I sent a few totally battered but working phones to Mazuma and got full price

When I sent my Nexus 5 they sent me a huge list of faults that I never felt it had

Oh well

Mazuma probably started with good intentions to make a little money reducing electronic meep, once profits start rolling in they get greedier and greedier.

LOl no they didnt! it was a very good business plan and worked very well. Ive also never had a problem with them and they offer a good price, yes its less than ebay, but when you take fees and messing from buyers its so worth the loss.

All of these phone recycling companies are at it. When I sent my Galaxy S3 off to O2, they originally quoted me around £90. The phone was in perfect working condition with a few minor scratches on it (which I listed).

They got back to me saying they would give me £50. I just told them to send it back as I could get a lot more on auction sites. The person on the phone then said that they had a "revised" price/offer, which was £80! So I just accepted that, despite the fact I could have sold it for around £130, but as already mentioned, sometimes the extra cash is not worth the possible hassle from potential buyers.

Just sold my iPhone 8 to them. They received the phone on Friday, and promptly paid me the same day, no issues whatsoever. Great service from mazuma for me. Got the full quoted amount too (310)
