MyHermes - well, it's not a good news story.

Thread Hijack

My local Hermes imbecile has tried to deliver my parcel at the same time every day for the last 3 days and now its been returned to sender.

I wouldnt mind but there are 40 other houses they could have left it with, even after the second attempt failed they could have had the notion I might be at work and to try evenings.

The note I left on my front door asking them to leave contact/collection details was seemingly ignored.

There is even an area on the slip for them to leave a name and mobile number but they didn't bother on all three of them.

Who would even want to be a courier them amount of courier bashing threads there are?

Idiot job for idiot people.

MyHerpes are the ones who told me that my rather expensive delivery was left in the shed at my address because the driver deemed it to be both secure and hidden from view. I don't have a shed.

Never did find out where it had been dumped.

Alternatives purchased, wrapping commenced.

Last lad I spoke to at Disney was actually quite helpful. He apologised and confirmed Hermes were not able to deliver today. They will re-attempt tomorrow and he's given them my mobile.

I wonder, shall I give the dude some grief and pop back her to complain when he gets the hump?

However, he will know where I work and will know the location of work letter box.

The late goods will do in 6 weeks time for Christmas, so not a complete loss.

just tell her she got the day wrong and have the birthday when the parcel arrives. she'll know no better at age 4, and next year she won't remember when you move it back to the usual date.

Our MyHerpes driver decided that he couldn't read the house number on the MyHerpes label and so decided to subtract 40 from the house number and leave the parcel at the side of a house at the end of our street.

I'm pleased to report that no tears were shed before bedtime! Had a mild rant on the MyHermes FB page and they've asked me to PM the tracking number to help out. Won't hold my breath but at least it's something.

No sign of the goods and as suggested if they do turn up. This will be earliest I've started my Christmas shopping.

It's crazy how we can't ship goods within our borders but anything I order from China turns up within a week.

I agree with most that has been posted, but surely this would be asking a little much? I don't know how big an area one driver covers, but darting about the place based on previous delivery times for all repeat attempts is probably a pretty big task?

Personally, the fact it costs more, or simply isn't an option, to have a Saturday delivery to me is simply ridiculous in this day and age.

Considered having a moan but the lad said he only just started today and didn't know why it hadn't been delivered before.

I do get Hermes deliveries for RC gear so may as well keep the lad on side.

Christmas shopping has started!

The MH driver round my way is a really nice guy. He looks after our parcels, doesn't leave them in stupid places - We are on first name terms and he always asks after my partner when he delivers to me and asks after me when he delivers to my partner.

He has said before what an awful company they are though - Says they have no regard for the staff at all and treat them appallingly. But we already knew that, right? I tried to save him coming here to collect something which Amazon accidently instructed both MH and DPD to collect. I was a £700 monitor so I guessed MH was the mistake. I missed him when he came and he left a note, so I got in touch with MH to tell him not to come again as it was a mistake and I didn't want him wasting his fuel. They didn't even bother to cancel it off or get in touch with him. Poor guy.

Well he wasnt wrong about it being secure and hidden from view ;)

I've never really had a bad experience with Hermes, sometimes stuff has turned up a day late which I'm alright with it's Yodel that are the absolute worst for me. Ordered some trainers from Amazon about two years ago and saw free shipping so I was like "oh nice save a few quid". Checked the status while I was at work, said delivered so I thought nothing of it. Got home and theres a little slip through the door that said it had been put in the outhouse (note for some reason up here we call these little storage rooms on the outside of the house outhouses, not like an old style outhouse) so I went out and looked. One of them is locked up so I knew they hadn't been put in there, the other one the lock itself is paggered so while it looks like theres a lock on there it isn't locked (note theres nothing valuable in there just a bunch of old DIY stuff). Felt like a cross between How Clean Is Your House and Eight Legged Freaks digging through there to try and find the parcel to no avail. Rang up Yodel, they said something along the lines of the system said it'd been delivered and there was nothing else to do.

Week later my neighbour knocks on the door with the parcel, they'd stuck it in their outhouse for some reason? Beyond me.

How do folks generally find the pond scum level couriers (not always the drivers but...) get on with the lockable garden boxes?

Considering getting a decently secure box set up in the front garden (not an overlooked spot) with a note on it clear to anyone leaving the front door "parcels in here if no answer".
There's a few about on Amazon, thinking of just building my own (likely brick and a metal lid) with just a fairly simple yale/latching lock on it.

Ironically (touch wood) the only bad delivery service I seem to have round here is royal mail... at best we get our post around 3pm when we have our 'usual' delivery woman, anyone else is before 10am.

A fair few of my delivery drivers have been foreign so apart from the lack of english in most cases they're all pretty good at turning up.

Having said that we do get extra deliveries due to being on a road that goes through two villages with both using the same street name, same postcode and both have the same set of numbers on houses.. yeah I don't know how that can happen either.

I've had some funny looks from delivery drivers when they're lost looking for a house number (usually mine +1) and the first question I ask them is which village is on the address.... usually it's the other one they need lol

Mine just said "delivered" from Herpes but no indication of where, 15 minutes after it was checked out of the depot and my place is 30 miles away. Delivered where I like to wonder? Someone's lockup most likely. Expensive £220 that was.

Outhouse? Did they accidentally deliver it to the nineteen forties?

Smashing her pasty no doubt

Similar thing for me the other week. Purchased ebay item, sent via yodel. After a week delay i contacted ebay who said the item was left in my porch and so no refund was to be issued. I have no porch, no item and now no refund. Tried appealing but ebay basically said to get lost. Not very impressed.

Had £200 worth of curtains delivered by Hermes this week, the driver didn't bother knocking, my wife looked out the window and happened to notice him running back to his van and we discovered the package dumped in the bin outside.
