Good evening,

I previously started a spec post regarding a new PC gaming build, but never got round to buying it.

Could somebody possibly provide me with a good gaming spec for around £350 please. That doesn't include monitor, keyboard, mouse, OS or GPU.

The only things I'd really like are a SSD, atleast 8gig memory and an i5 processor. Everything else doesn't really matter.

If anybody could do this for me it would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

You can't build a new i5 gaming PC for £350 Inc a suitable SSD, 8 gig Ram and a gaming gpu. Up your budget buy another £200 or buy a PS4 pro.

Thank you. Can anybody better this?

Not exactly.

But if you had to squeeze a 240GB SSD in somehow, then going B-Grade on a couple of items would make it possible for a few quid extra.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £382.04
(includes shipping: £11.10)

The processor may or may not have a cooler, being B-Grade. The cooler would count as an accessory, which are sometimes missing. Could probably source a cheap second-hand cooler (Intel stock or otherwise) for £5.

Modern games now can be like 30-65GB in size. So plan accordingly. A 1TB HDD might be necessary if you don't want B-Grade stuff, or cannot fit the games you're going to play on a 120GB SSD.

You can get Windows 10 and some programs into 20GB if you tweak a couple of things (disable hibernation, shrink page file to 200MB, disable System Restore etc). Even then, you don't want to fill the SSD completely, so you basically have 80GB for games with a 120GB SSD. So as Mickey said, larger SSD better.

Danny, you previously built this spec for a £500 budget (including gpu). Is this still a good build for the money? Or can it be improved anywhere for a similar price.

Tell us what date you intend to pull the trigger and we'll spec you if it's just a few days. Otherwise wait and ask for a spec around the time you're going to buy. Prices change so much.
