For someone else who bought the bundle, which would you recommend - the Samsung or the Intel drive?
Samsung is faster but overpriced I feel. Intel is still silly quick and a lot less money. I'd personally get the Intel.

I grabbed one of 256gb Intel sticks a few weeks back and it gives me 1200+ reads and 500+ writes through the pcie slot on my Z97 board which is a great step up from the 500 reads and 200 writes of my 256gb 840 ssd.Samsung is faster but overpriced I feel. Intel is still silly quick and a lot less money. I'd personally get the Intel.
Not bad considering your using it on an old platform.
The 600P is also super reliable as even the NAND is made by Intel in house, the 600P is a 100% Intel product, they make everything down to the packaging themselves.

I'd take this minus the cooler as not required (have got an h115i). But doubt they will sell it for less than discounted price.

I am surprised the bundle stayed in stock this long, the best deal I have ever seen, not enough of a step up from my i7 4790k to justify the purchase [ that is what I keep telling myself]
It is because we have kept it rather low key. Only promoted via forums and facebook and with the website continuously showing it as out of stock as confused a few customers apart from those who I have informed via forums and facebook.
So in a way a godsend as the website would have gobbled them up too quickly at least now I think everyone on the forum has managed to snag one.

Very, VERY similar to what I have been telling myself this afternoon. Has been in and out of my basket all day. Only the thought of stripping down and rebuilding has put me off - as well as the fact that it would be minimal upgrade from 4790k.
But still, what a deal....

Perfect example, 4790k is old generation, but they are now made in small quantities to meet demand, as such prices remain stable or even go higher. Intel do not do sales on processors because they simply sell everything they make, in short they do not mess up.
We still sell around 100 units 4790k per month on a processor that has being out now over two years.

Shows a big improvement in some games, not so much in others. Tough choice, is game dependent I guess.
Clearing the way for the 7700k in early January I see
Perhaps the rumours that it clocks to 5.0Ghz on air are true after all
We do not need to clear stocks as we never hold more than 10 days worth of processors anyway. Were doing deals and we do an 8 Pack every Black Friday with a big discount.
6700k shall remain a strong seller for next 12 months, just like 4790k still sells well even though Sandylake replaced it over a year ago.
