If people start routing all their traffic through VPN's, surely they'd be flagged first for an in depth look over people with regular traffic?

Any figures to what percentage of current UK traffic goes through VPN's?

Good VPNs don't log traffic, even better VPNs don't bow down to Five Eyes/Fourteen Eyes.

If there's no logs there's nothing to hand over anyway.

I don't know much about it all but surely there are markers which would show someone is routing through a VPN?

Regardless of the lack of logs, maybe we'll see a law in the future where the authorities can seize a PC/Laptop/Tablet that's been routing traffic through VPN's. :(

So they would seize all of our company's work laptops, as we have to VPN on to our US network to access certain systems?

My rather basic understanding is that yes your IPS can tell that you are using VPN connection. But there are ways obfuscate its usage (SSL/SSH connections methods). However, these methods won't totally hide you when using a VPN.

As far as I understand it, with torrents, you're always uploading something, be it a few bytes of information, you're technically an uploader.

Correct me if i'm wrong but it's impossible to download a torrent without uploading something, even if uploads are set to zero. I haven't used them in close to 3 years so things might have changed.

who said anything about torrents?

I'm talking about streaming sites.

like say youtube.... (or all the oens we cant say here)

massive amounts, business people working from home etc.

Also many of those exempt from the regulation, mps, lawyers, and jouurnalists :P

whats that got to do with a post about them going for your streaming history though?

they can already get you on torrents simply by joining one.

They kind of go hand in hand, most of my friends who stream movies also download via torrents.

I'll just keep quiet next time.
