I genuinely feel this deserves it's own thread, if it wasn't bad enough we was hit with the news of the 'snoopers charter' soon to be made law, then only the next day the digital economy bill is hitting the headlines stating that the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) are to be getting new powers forcing internet service providers to block pornographic websites that do not ask for age verification,

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38062660

And if that wasn't enough now it has come to light that part of the bill is to ban UK users from accessing websites portraying a range of nonconventional sexual acts?!

A quote from the article,

"Pictures and videos that show spanking, whipping or caning that leaves marks, and sex acts involving urination, female ejaculation or menstruation as well as sex in public are likely to be caught by the ban – in effect turning back the clock on Britain’s censorship regime to the pre-internet era."

WTF?

I just can't comprehend what is happening in this country, this type of censorship is beyond archaic.

How long will it take before the snoopers charters starts to get abused and people will end up on the sex offenders resister for viewing unconventional sexual acts!?

I've got a feeling this government is going to keep pushing more and more and see what they can get away with until people push back.

I've got a feeling this will just push people to the parts of the web where stuff like this would be very soft in comparison... and then introduce a new generation to the darkweb, giving the opposite effect.

It'll also get more people using VPNs, which they don't want.

Seriously though, the government doesn't really have much of a clue on the internet does it?

This type of attitude just drives things underground with the detrimental dangers inherent with illegal or banned activities.

I don't care to honest I will just get VPN'ed up and get what I like. :D

As somebody said in the other thread, this may be a good time to buy shares in proxy's, vpn's etc.

Until they try and ban those too. If they're doing this how long do people think it will be before everyone who uses a VPN is suddenly a potential paedophile or terrorist? "Well if you've got nothing to hide.." etc etc.

If the recent "Passport / Driving Licence photo required before NHS treatment" is anything to go by, and the counter argument to that is some people cannot afford a Passport or Licence, then it's only a matter of time before "Free" photo ID cards are introduced.

Y'know, cos terr'ism / children / NHS budget etc etc
