My uncle loves building models, particularly boats and ships. He's built some seriously good ones from scratch using raw materials and plans, down to the little kits you get in toy stores. I need to get him something for xmas but don't really know what as I know as much about models as I do about Gigi Hadid's underwear.

Creative ideas welcome. Any suggestions?

Diddums, theres loads of things like tools you could buy, but being a keen modeller, he might have most of them. I would buy him another model. What sort of things does he like to model, give me a budget and I'll find something for you.

He's got a Dremel but that would've been a good shout. Rob he likes maritime stuff. He's built catamarans, tugs, a huge Titanic, some RC, some static. Anything marine / maritime goes really. Was thinking a budget of £30 but can push to £50 for something really nice. Thanks for the help :)

If it was me, I'd be going for something like a 1/350 Tamiya warship. This is a good one. I've seen it built and it's very nicely detailed for the price, and everything Tamiya make is quality.

Or, if he has a Dremel, try to subtly find out if he has a Dremel flexi-shaft for it, if not that would be a fantastic present for him. I couldn't use my Dremel for modelling without one. So much more control.

This is bang on the money, that set looks absolutely fantastic but their products aren't available due to business relocation. If anyone knows of a good alternative, I'm all ears!

Some paintbrushes? I'm a big fan of these bad boys.

Those look good too. When I presented them to the wife, her response was "£30 for some paintbrushes lol". Yeah, she doesn't get the importance of proper tools

What about something to complement his modelling. Like a wood carving kit to add detail to his models.

This is a good idea too, but again I have no idea where to look.

A complete leftfielder just popped up, a Bonsai kit with a book and some starter bits, can be had for less than £20 and seems like the kind of thing he'd enjoy.
