**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Has anyone bought their's with the official rom on it? It's an option on geekbuying and works out slightly cheaper.

Bought a Mi5 from geekbuying
dispatched on 19-11
was in Singapore on 22-11

last event is dispatched to overseas (UK , Royal Mail) 24-11

Should be within the UK in about 1-2 days right?

I'd have thought so. Not a bad turn around if that's the case.

Has it been said already in here how much income tax etc we have to pay importing one of these phones? Tempted to get a Mi5 whilst they're on offer.

edit: found a rough estimate on previous page.

buy from top-one and there will be no import/vat charges

Having never ordered from either site before how does one incur an import tax whilst the other doesn't? I thought they'd both arrive from Hong Kong/Asia.

If the £210 on TO includes everything then it's probably the better deal.

top-one first post to there agent/middle man in london who then forwards on the packages to the customer in eu.. this means eu customers wont get hit with any customs charges

I see. Wonder if that just applies to TO or other sellers on there? Goldway have it for £198 plus £10 shipping.

Well after eyeing up the ZTE Axon 7 for a while I finally took the plunge and ordered one as with a black friday discount code and sale I got it for £344 delivered. Will be replacing a Sony Z3.

Wouldn't be so sure unless you paid extra for DHL or something.

Ive got a Redmi 3S coming from Geekbuying. Here's my timeline thus far.

3rd Nov - Purchased
7th Nov - Shipped Email with Tracking Num
Tracking details show.....
9th Nov - Received from Customer
11th Nov - Dispatched to overseas (Country code: GB)
25th Nov - Arrival at Destination Post (Country: GB)

It's anyone's guess really. Ive seen some that turn up in GB a couple days after the dispatch to overseas and ive seen some that took up to a month!
Hopefully now that mine has landed on our shores i'll see it next week some time!

14 days...hmm maybe its not a direct flight?

In China at the moment, and thinking I'll need a chinese sim to survive for the couple weeks, not good relying on wifi and speaking no language... :D

Would it be worth buying a Mi5 whilst I am here? I desperately need a new phone, and it looks pretty nifty. I've never owned an Android device that hasn't been flashed to another ROM, I presume these'd be easy enough?
