I literally have no time for gaming right now what with work and other commitments..

Looking to downgrade for a while but might play the odd game if I can...

Not selling my x34 but would still like to push it at medium settings...

Since that monitor is G-SYNC I'd look at selling the 1080 and get a 980 if you're happy to dial the settings down, as we both know clock a 980 non Ti up there you're still get good performance! or look for a cheap 980 Ti on the MM?

How long do you think this will last? I never see point of downgrade unless you really need cash.
I pretty much did the opposite, upgraded to 1080 from 480 (which does the job well) even though my gaming time is limited but when I do get time to play I want it to be worth it. :)

^Agree with them. Wouldn't want anything less than a 1080 to drive that monitor in games. Just occasional gaming, do you really want to lower the settings and spend time doing so?
I sold an old TX and bought a 730 but knew I'd not be gaming at all for a while. THis was 1.5 years ago. Will have a bit more time, albeit still limited and want to play some of the recent titles so upgraded but wouldn't have wanted to buy anything less than a 1080 even for 1440p

If you downgrade then might as well buy a smaller/lower res monitor for now too, in additional to the X34 if you want to keep it which means more money.

I sense possible "downgrade now to later buy a Ti" situation :D

Keep the 1080.

There's no need to downgrade, after all if you were sick of watching TV you wouldn't switch the 4k telly for a 1080p telly and then buy a 4k telly when you fancy a few episodes of EastEnders again?

LOL

What you are really saying is you want to shift your 1080 as you think the 1080 Ti will be out soon.

What gives you away is the fact that you want to hang onto your monitor even though you have no time for gaming.:D

If you really wanted to, the best move in my opinion would find someone looking to sell a 980Ti and swap with a decent portion of cash...maybe try to find one with a decent amount of warranty left just in case. Performance would still be excellent.

Whereas dropping to a GTX980 would be a pretty sharp drop on a monitor like that.

A monitors not just for benching and gaming Kaap, they can be used to earn a wage too you know.:p

It'd be a bit daft even for easy to selling his G-Sync x34 with a hit and taking a QC gamble replacing it for a non sync x34.:D

I'd drop to a 980Ti personally. Plenty of gaming grunt and should get £200-£300 in your pocket.

I wouldn't. Asssuming he bought a new 1080, a second hand 980 Ti with £200-300 in the pocket not worth the risk IMO. Might not even have a valid warranty and would also need a recent one as the earlier cards are now now like 1.5 years old?
