After over 2 years of riding I had my first "that's illegal!" Cry after filtering past someone, bearing in mind he was shouting that while trying to swerve into me and stick me in the central reservation.

You've got to wonder what goes through people's heads. Even if it was illegal I think executing me is a bit far!

More people than you realise still think we 'cut to the front' and that it's illegal.

Probably the same people who think using their phones while driving is perfectly fine and doesn't hurt anyone.

There's the video on facebook doing the rounds of the truck driver who was changing songs on his phone when he ploughed into stationary traffic and killed a mother and 3 kids, anyone caught even tapping their phone should be made to watch that. 10 years in prison (not long enough IMO), 3 lives lost and god knows how many ruined all because he 'needed' to skip songs.

How many people are still commuting at this time of year? The weather has been awful the last few days here with -6 mornings and properly icy roads, even in the car. I'm still seeing loads of guys out, fearlessly ploughing along as if their high viz gear and gopros will save them from a crash on ice.

I just don't get it. Two people have lost their lives due to this in the last few days around here alone. I couldn't imagine taking the bike out at this time of year, especially early morning. Danger aside, I just don't see how there could be any enjoyment in barely squeezing the throttle and freezing your ******** off.

Anyway, /rant and RIP to those two.

Yep still commuting but it's been nowhere near that cold down in the midlands. When it gets to that stage down here I'll be on the train or WFH.

Yer still commuting but again its not been that cold. Theres ice on the roads today but its weekend so fine :p

Commuting in to a major city means mental traffic. Id much rather be slighty cold, get a little wet and have the ability to filter past several hundred cars then to sit in traffic hating life :D

Yeah OK, but unless you live in the middle of nowhere, then surely everyone has the alternative of public transport. Maybe everyone I've seen out does live nowhere near a bus stop, but I highly doubt it.

And just to stress, I've no problem with riding in the winter within reason. I'm still out when the temps well above freezing myself, but when the roads are literally frozen solid I just don't know how you can justify the danger levels. Even if the main roads are gritted, as soon as you turn into a street that hasn't had any morning sun, you're effectively on an ice rink. There comes a point where it is just madness.

Yep, there are of cours epeople who take it too far, but I've ridden tons in way below freezing temps with no issues. I knew my route very well, knew exactly which roads were gritted and which weren't and generally where and when the traffic was so it was never an issue for me. Of course riding on unfamiliar roads is just asking for trouble.

That's one plus of living in the warmest part of the uk, we've barely had a frost so far. This week it's meant to get colder but I'll just stick on my muffs and it'll be fine. Don't think I've actually seen proper ice here in the last couple of winters.

I was without a bike through the icy mornings but I won't be taking it now, I leave the house at 5.20am so most of the roads are untouched, icy and not gritted so I'll choose the car when mornings like that are here.

I rode on icy roads today, although when I got onto the main roads the ice was melted in the middle from car engines. :p

I do but it costs me £130 a week to get to the office if I need to take that route, that's 8 weeks of petrol and I don't have £500 a month spare.

The year shouldn't make it go up, it's normally how much the bike is worth that makes it go up.

The MT07 is very cheap, so probably bought by a lot of new riders that crash it.

Nuda will always be cheap insurance as 2nd hand they're not worth a huge amount and barely anyone has one, so there are no bad statistics on it.

Maybe not for some but £6k is a huge amount for a bike for someone to spend considering they are now 4 years old.

£6K isn't that much for a 4 year old bike, my Tuono is 7 years old and is worth £5500 or so.

The Nuda R and Factory Tuono were similar price when new, about £9500.
