25 years to the day of the death of musics greatest ever frontman

Playing "March of the Black Queen" from waaaaaaay back on Queen II, utter genius.

I first heard them on Alan Freeman's Saturday Rock Show back in '73, probably just before the album was released. I heard the first twenty seconds of "Keep Yourself Alive" and knew that I was hearing something very special and have been a big Queen fan for the last 43 years.

Freddie was unique and easily the best front man I've ever seen, I shed a few tears the day he died. :(

People are often recognised for their greatness after the death. I think we missed out on the greatest that was to come from him as a result of his. As you've all stated here though he was a brilliant man both as an artist and as a human. That to me symbolises just how great the loss of him was considering as I've said, I don't think we saw everything he had to give.

I'm in a different mind to you and I think he had gone past his best.
The first two albums were 100% awesome and that's how I still think of Queen and the next 3 not so much. News Of The World deserves a mention but after that it was garbage with the odd decent track IMO.
Even with them making the odd decent song they still remained the greatest live band where they could rely on their back catalogue.
Innuendo was actually a decent album and I thought 'At last back on track' but also knew it would probably be their last :(

I was fortunate enough to have seen Queen at the NEC during the Works tour in 1984. A 31 track set list, it was an epic night. Fantastic front man, a natural born entertainer. RIP Freddie.

One thing I really respect Queen for is that they always did their own thing their own way.

Absolutely and virtually every song was different to the last but still had that Queen sound.

Incidentally the first thing that hit me when I bought the first album was it said on the back 'No Synthesizers' and that was on every album until Flash.

Still cant watch the last few videos etc because of how Freddie looks (its him but not him at the same time)

Actually really got into Queen through the film Highlander and then went backwards, and some of my favourite music of all time is early to mid - queen, with the latter years never really hitting it off with me. Still remember where I was exactly when I heard, strangely enough the same room where I heard about Conor Clapton falling out the window to his death (which was earlier in the same year).
