A link to these £150 rx 470s?

Overclockers only have them starting from £188.99

That one is almost in budget if you use the 20% cashback, but is out of stock unfortunately.

Sorry but GTX1050TI 4GB for £150 is a total waste of money- an RX470 or GTX1060 3GB demolishes a rubbish GTX1050TI. I have a GTX960 4GB which trades blows with a GTX1050TI 4GB,and it can get pushed in newer games. Most sites only compared aftermarket GTX1050TI 4GB cards to reference GTX960 2GB cards. So basically the same performance we had for 18 months for the same price.

The OP is better served by the cheapest RX460 or GTX1050 for not more than £110 if they want a basic replacement. Both of those are around GTX950 level performance, which is a minor upgrade over an HD7850.

Even at £180 to £190 an RX470 4GB or GTX1060 3GB is upto 50% faster in titles making the GTX1050TI one of the poorest price/performance cards launched in years unless it has been discounted in price.

Also, considering Cyber Monday is still on,yes you can get RX470 4GB cards for £150 to £160 if the OP looks around. Plenty of deals still around.

Plus the fact a few weeks before Black Friday OcUK had the RX470 Red Devil for under £170 twice with free postage.

I would rather pre-order that MSI RX470 4GB(if I had to buy it from OcUK),and wait a week without a PC,then suffer having a GTX1050TI for the next few years.

You not only get a £160 RX470 but you get the entire first season of Hitman which is also worth some money on auction sites.

Oh,and another thing the MSI RX480 8GB with cashback comes to around £200 and with the fact Civ6 comes with it and sells for £20 to £30 online,it just shows how poor the GTX1050TI 4GB is.

There are people on the famous deals website boasting they got a RX480 8GB for £180,after the cashback and ditching the game.

OP,if you want a true performance jump over the HD7850(providing the CPU in the system is good enough and you have a reasonable PSU),these two cards have cashback:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-32y-ms.html

Cashback details:

https://uk.msi.com/Promotion/radeon_cashback_q4_2016

All RX470 and RX480 cards come with games which can be sold for between £15 to £30 too. The rubbish GTX1050TI comes with no games.

Plus being Cyber Monday just look around for any remaining RX470 4GB deals too.

If you want a cheaper replacement,or are on a weaker system, then a RX460 or GTX1050 will be more than enough.

This RX460 is £96:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/his-...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-10d-hs.html

However, this Zotac GTX1050 is £106 and is generally quicker:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/zota...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-10b-zt.html

Now,you can get this GTX1050TI 4GB which is more palatable at £130:

But at this point a MSI RX470 4GB at £160 after cashback and with a game which probably sells for at least £10 to £20,still is better value.

You only have to look at how one-sided the comparisons is to one of the pre-overcocked GTX1050TI cards which is like £170:

You have enough posts to be granted access to Members market, something will come up in there for £100 or so, maybe a GTX 970. That's what I'd spend my money on.

If the extra cash is available in the short term get the MSI 470 and get the cash back and sell the game, that's unless your dad happens to like Civ then it's a good excuse to buy it ;)

So basically the same performance we had for 18 months for the same price.

Yup, almost the same as the 480 and 1060, not a massive improvement over the out going 970 for about the same money.
But of course we mustn't forget the pound's position against the dollar, which has certainly not helped prices at all.

This is why the RX470 at around £160 is a good deal - despite the pound, etc it is a decent improvement over the older R9 380 and comes with a free game which is worth selling off to get some money off. There were even aftermarket ones for as low as £150(!) on Black Friday itself with a free game.

Having said that the MSI RX480 8GB for £200 to £212 after cashback and the £20 to £30 value of Civ6 really makes it probably the best value sub £300 card for a while IMHO OFC.

But its MASSIVE,and dwarfs even a FE GTX1080 which is kind of mental!! :p

or 2nd hand 280x maybe?

Thanks all for the suggestions.

It's made me look at AMD offerings, have sourced a 480 8GB for £196 after cashback. Looks like I missed some of the better deals by a few days or so, but it's still pretty good.
