Amazon delivered parcel to me when I'm not home?

I am away from home at the moment and won't be back until Tuesday evening.

I ordered something on Amazon on Friday and chose the free delivery as it said would be delivered on Weds when I'm back home. Annoyingly (in this situation) it was delivered Saturday morning and the tracking says 'Parcel was handed to resident - Delivered to Evans'.

Does this mean somebody was handed the parcel and they have given the driver my name?

I live in a building with 8 flats so it could be sitting on the staircase when I get home like I've seen with others but the fact it says my name is making me a bit worried. The only way they can leave it is if somebody happens to be at the door to open it, or they press the wrong buzzer.

It means they handed it to some random but put your name from the parcel on the tracking or they left it absolutely anywhere and again just grabbed your name from the parcel.

There is a tramp living in your house when you're at work. He calls himself Evans and he uses your toothbrush.

Tell Amazon now that no one was home so it couldn't have been handed over. Check when you get home then claim from them. I have found Amazon quite good at refunding/replacing.
Andi.

Don't worry about it, it will be in the hallway or it won't be, in which case Amazon will immediately send you a replacement without any fuss at all.

They gave it to a neighbour and will have left a postcard through your door telling you exactly where it is. This is standard practise for delivery drivers.

normal.

Mine normally put delivered to me when im at work when infact they have left it in my garage and put a note through the door telling me where and most of the time there is a smiley face

I had the same thing yesterday. Got the tracking update to say it'd been delivered - checked the details and it said it had been handed to me which it hadn't as I wasn't in.

Got home and it had been left in our cardboard recycling bin.

You sure it wasnt "Ivan"? I had a mobile phone delivered to me and "Ivan" signed for it.,

Was told I needed to see Ivan to get my phone as he must live with me.

Turns out a week later that it was delivered to Dr Evans who leaves in the next village.

I've had parcels delivered recently that they just said "parcel for xxxx" (partners surname), I've just said "yep" and they've handed it over with no signature.

How retailers expect to protect themselves when their delivery drivers don't bother to validate the delivery I do not know. Clearly the likes of Amazon are happy to write off x% in failed/unconfirmed deliveries.

I reckon it was Ivana.

Ivana Take-Your-Parcel.

Unless they work for Yodel in which case their terms of employment requires them to give it a couple of kicks and then hoof it onto the roof of the shed.

Had two deliveries last week to my home, on the tracking pages of the two different companies they were marked as signed for by me, whilst I was at work. Luckily I only work half a mile away so popped home at lunch to find them left on the doorstep.

I reckon these drivers are under a fair bit of pressure at Christmas to just deliver. :)
