Vigilante justice - ex football coach

Yes, if i had the history this guy has got.

Unfortunately for the most part that's not how vigilante justice works, more stories of times when people have gotten it very wrong pop to mind than stories of it turning out to be justified.

I'm really not sure these people exist.

People have admitted to being serial killers in the past purely for the fame even when it's been completely obvious they couldn't have done it.

I just have a lot of trouble believing you're going to get guys coming forward to say they were raped by a youth football coach as some sort of claim to fame. I'm not having it, basically, just makes no sense.

Never heard of Munchausen's syndrome? Same thing basically, to draw attention to yourself and make people feel like you're a victim.

Women claiming to be raped when they haven't makes no sense but it still happens.

Anyway, the sympathy I had for the man has gone since his past has been made apparent.

Well lets be honest, if it is in the papers then in must be right... Right.. Ask all the people who have been accused of stuff like this and been found not guilty, acquitted and summarily had their lives destroyed by the media et al. Mud sticks

If they are guilty let them rot in hell, but until then........

That's peado talk where i come from.

Does that automatically make him guilty of any new accusations?

While he probably is, it's a very slippery slope to go down.

At what point did I say he was?

In the context of the person I quoted, he is saying mud sticks, in this case mud sticks because he is a convicted pedophile. The media cannot ruin his life by labeling him as such, because he is already known as a pedophile.

Come off it. It's beyond reasonable doubt that at least some of these new accusations are legit.

In most cases I would agree with you. But there's just so little room for doubt on this one.

Couple of years back or so some teacher near where I live foolishly had a thing going with a 15 year old - initially her parents pushed her towards claiming rape or whatever, after which its all over facebook (several friends of my age are parents of kids at the school) how everyone knows someone's kid who'd supposedly been molested by him (none of which turn out to be true).

there have been incidents where innocent people have been murdered in the UK on the basis of rumours or cases of mistaken identity it isn't a good thing in general... however:

Bennell was given a four-year sentence for raping a British boy on a football tour of Florida in 1994 and a nine-year sentence in 1998 for 23 offences against six boys in England.

the above is appalling, he's a multiple sex offender, while people should have a chance at rehabilitation it isn't like it is a one off incident. The fact that he only did 4 years for the first conviction seems pretty ridiculous but then with six more victims??? These are exactly the sorts of people who should be locked up for decades - he clearly demonstrated he couldn't control himself and a load of other people had to suffer traumatic events because of it. While I don't condone vigilante attacks he did deserve a beating, I'd much rather the system was able to deal with him in the form of a longer sentence in the first place.
