Hey guys. I hope your'e all well?!

Firstly i want to say i know nothing about water cooling other than the light reading I've done here and there.
Just looking at some of the watercooled builds I've seen on these forums is enough to want one!

Yesterday i got the chance to purchase a pre built system. I got it pretty cheap and it looks great (I'll post specs and pictures below)

My only question with the build is that it gets quite hot (or so i think) When running Heaven Valley 4.0 the CPU can go up to 60 degrees and beyond and the GPU is 55-60 degrees.
This may be very normal but I've had air cooled parts before in Mini ITX cases that are better than these temperatures. I just assumed watercooled would be much better?

Is they something wrong that is obvious to a water cooling enthusiast or is this normal please?

Last but not least... Is they anyone around the Hull/Yorkshire area that could possibly go through flushing the system out and topping it up with new coolant please? I would love the re-assurance of a professional over my shoulder for the first time :)

SPECS
- i7 4790K (EK Water block)

So you have a cpu and gpu on a single 240 rad? If so then those temps are likely about right tbh. As your quite refined on space in the case I can see why its only the on rad. The general usage i 120mm per item +120mm overall. But still 55-60 isnt bad temps.

How old is the coolant in the system atm?

Ahh great. I didn't know if there was anything that was obvious and wrong with the system. I can live with the temps if i know they are right for the build :)
I'm guessing the future plan would be new case + new radiator for separate cooling?

He said it had been flushed and new liquid put in around 6-8 months ago :)

I'm not familar with the case but it looks like you squeeze a 120 in the back atleast so if you like the case I'm sure you can find somewhere else to put a rad.

most people change coloured fluid 6-8 months so I guess you'll wanna swap that out soon. It looks like you have a drain right by you GPU with will make life a lot easier for you. Only advice I have for draining is to jump start the PSU 24 pin and find out how to force the pump to run at 100% and flush it all throught with Di Ionised water/blitz.

Appreciate the advice mate.

If anyone in my area or close by could help with this i would appreciate this a lot. Obviously their time and advice will be treat kindly :)

It's really not hard to do yourself, can get messy if but you have no worries as the fluid is non conductive so even if you spill any just wipe it up and you'll be fine. Give it a crack yourself, you can enjoy the pleasures of a loop all to yourself that way ;)

Ohh i didn't know that. I just assumed liquid + electrical components = certain expensive parts buggered ha! I think i need to stop assuming so much!

Can you recommend any good red UV liquid to use please?

Well obviously it compelte depends on the liquid the person used but most is non conductive, I've cover my gpu in coolant before while it was on! :P

Erm the only red I have ever used is Mayhems X1 which I'm pretty sure isn't UV. I may be wrong tho. All I can say is stear clear of pastel unless you want to change regularly. Granted it isn't the same for everyone but I had a lot of scum in it when I drained and my colour wasn't the same and gradually dropped.

Those temps are fine for that size of rad.

Most important question is... Is it silent?

in terms of a coolant change, i wouldn't worry, had some in a loop for nearly 2 years now.

To be fair it actually is really silent. A bit of humming which im guessing are from the corsair fans bu I'm very pleased with the sound (or lack of!)

I have a 240 rad just doing my CPU which runs at about 45 so 60 isn't bad for both.
Andi.

That's great. I think i need to be happy with what I've got. I'm hoping there is room for overclocking :)

Howdy,

What are the fans on the front of the rad? They don't look to be the same as the Corsair SPs on the rest of the build so its worth knowing if they are up to the job as that can make a difference. Also stupid question but check that they are actually pulling air in as they should be not the other way round ;)

Also it would be advisable to check how the pump and fan speed is being controlled, MSI command centre? Playing with that profile could help also, specifically dialing up the pump speed and front intake speed at slightly lower thresholds. Playing with that will allow you to strike the right balance between noise and temperatures.

Excellent. Thank you for the input. I will check this out tonight. He told me them fans where specific for the purpose of water cooling so I'm guessing they'll be good ones. I'll have a good look tonight and see what's what

Nice little build, those temps seem fine - almost the same as mine and mine has 2x240mm radiators!

I think it's because the fluid is moving so quickly, it doesn't get a chance to heat up - and that's one hell of a pump for a small setup!

The fans look like the EK ones, which aren't bad at all and are designed to go on the rads - its all good :)

Very nice setup mate :)

I've also got the same Phanteks Mini ITX as you and currently looking at getting the NZXT Hue+ kit for mine too - have you got the full kit as listed below with contains 4 x LED strips or just two of them as yours currently looks like it's covering the sides of the case only?

Many thanks - Liam.

To me it looks like there's light strips left, right and top.

Either way I'd highly recommend the Hue+ especially if you want to use the lights white at all. I've tried several seperate rgb strips I bought from the rainforest to connect to the RGB ports on my motherboard and their version of white is always way too yellow for my liking. I much prefer the cool blue from the Hue+ strips.

To give you an idea of the colour here's picture of mine

Thanks for the heads up - I agree it looks like an absolute no brainer with how it's setup and it transforms the look of rigs internally by a long shot.

I've just placed an order for my kit :)

Liam.
