I've been looking at NAS solutions, but I have a T1600 dell with a microATX motherboard, 8gb ram and a xeon chip - thinking I could repurpose it.

But I want something I could easily change hard drives on, so want some front facing hot swap bays.

Easier to find miniATX - shame

Min 4 bays, pref 8

I would consider looking at the CaseLabs Mercury S5 then mate... this case is expensive and you would need to assemble it but its a nice nice case...

Yea when I say 'hot-swap, nas style'

I do mean front of the case hot-swap trays, preferably that require no tools.

I'm not sure that Mercury S5 has that.
