Why did you buy a saloon over an estate?

I'm loving the practicality of my estate. The car also arrived in saloon form. And many saloons also arrive in estate form.

So why did you pick your saloon over estate?

sometimes the estate looks better though,

ie many audis and of course Alfas

actually think my Mondeo estate looks better than the saloon too :)

It looks better, it's a bit more refined, its cheaper and it's faster and more fuel efficient. It also has less body flex and thus less irritating rattles in the cabin :p

Estates looking better is quite a matter of opinion though. I do agree that for some cars the estate models can actually look better though but I'm sure not everyone shares that opinion.

For me though, the reason I chose a saloon was mainly because it was cheaper and I just don't really need the extra space in my motorway mile muncher anyway. I have an S-Max for when I do need lots of space to lug things around.

What this man said. Primarily looks and refinement though, i do prefer a saloon in every way.

No estate version available. If I was buying an E60 M5, I'd get the touring (not withstanding that it's called the E61).

I prefer estates purely because it makes a potentially unsuitable car work for me - but there is almost always a refinement pay off and tbh saloons mostly look a bit smarter too

Pretty much the above, plus I found second hand estates generally have higher miles, low mile examples can be hard to find and most have small dings inside and outside as a result of how they've been used.
